Yesterday my daughter and I attended a massive Sarah Palin rally in Springfield, Missouri. Springfield is Missouri's third-largest city. Officially, it has a population of 150,000. When you include outlying communities, it's probably more like 200,000 people in the area. Local news has estimated the crowd that turned out at 20,000! This is good news in this battleground state. Every election, it seems to be basically us in Springfield and the entire rest of the state against the big-city liberals in Kansas City and St. Louis. And in St. Louis, they bring out the dead. Heck, they've even been known...

-- SNIP Among the 800 likely Missouri voters polled last week, 48 percent backed Obama, while 47 percent favored McCain. Three percent preferred one of three third-party candidates, and two percent were undecided. Although statistically insignificant, Obama's lead is his first in Missouri against McCain in any Research 2000 polls this year. The previous poll, in late September, showed McCain with a one-point edge. -- SNIP Ali says Obama's strength with voters on economic issues is undoubtedly helping his cause. More than half of those polled in Missouri (52 percent) said they trusted his judgment more on the economy, compared...

ST. LOUIS — Hours before Sen. Barack Obama had even landed here Saturday, this city's mass transit system and downtown streets were packed with people headed to see the presidential hopeful who hails from the state across the river. The sea of humanity that came to stand under the Gateway Arch eventually grew to what a police official estimated was 100,000 people, the largest domestic crowd Obama has assembled during his campaign. The massive gathering—followed by an evening event in Kansas City that his campaign said drew at least 75,000—created a powerful image of strength in a bellwether state that...

Barack Obama apparently attracted more people to his rally today in St. Louis than to his August acceptance speech at Invesco Field in Denver. Lt. Samuel Dotson of the St. Louis Police Department placed the crowd count at 100,000 people, according to the campaign. "All I can say is, 'Wow,'" Obama said just after taking the stage underneath the Gatway Arch. Politico called Dotson to confirm the crowd figure but has not yet heard back. If the number is verified, it would be Obama's largest American crowd, second only to the 200,000 people who turned out for his speech in...

KANSAS CITY - Missouri voter Mary Kay Green has had enough. The supporter of Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama filed a lawsuit this week over what she claims is dangerous “hate speech” coming from the rival campaign of Republican presidential nominee John McCain.
