NY Times: Migrant Hotels Make Visiting New York City More Expensive than Ever
Breitbart ^ | 05/27/2024

The cost of illegal immigration is bearing out in the Big Apple and tourists are the latest to foot the bill.

New York City is more expensive than ever to visit, primarily due to Mayor Eric Adams (D) converting tons of hotels into shelters for newly arrived migrants, the New York Times reported Saturday. As Breitbart News has chronicled, Adams currently has about 65,000 migrants living in more than 16,500 hotel rooms across New York City.

The result has been skyrocketing hotel room costs for tourists who pay the price while hotels, often owned by the largest conglomerates, are raking in up to $185 per hotel room per night, whether migrants are staying in the room or not.

I’ve been wondering about all of this; is there a web-site or phone app that will alert people about whether a NYC hotel they want to book also takes in illegals? It would be similar to the SFO Poop app.

We are the stupidest generation of Americans to ever live. Possibly the stupidest generation of humans, period.

Well, they clearly know where the illegals are. Giving them incentives to return home would be the best option.

A small price to pay in return for millions of more Democrat votes in November.

If they could have forced all the illegal immigrants to stay in Texas, Biden would have carried Texas by 2 to 1. As it is, a large number of the immigrants are in New York, Illinois and California, all states the Democrats always win.

“up to $185 per hotel room per night”

Something is not right with this number.

Unless you stay in an absolute dump even a motel room somewhere along the highway in the rural South costs that much.

If you stay in a nicer hotel $225 per night isn’t unusual.

That’s what I paid for a reasonable room last year outside of Columbus, Georgia. So it’s certainly more now.

= = =

You mean if they can vote?

Otherwise, them staying in Texas should make Texans vote against Biden.

$185 isn’t the retail rack rate, it’s the contract amount. The article says $301 is the average rate for paid guests.

The flood of migrants (roughly 10 million and counting) is not something that I support, but I guess things could be far worse...just imagine Trump tweeting from the White House.

(you know you agree with the above, NeverTrumpers)

Hotels in New York are $300-400 a night for a decent plane and over $1,000 for fancy ones.

Nope. I do 60-80 nights a year. I generally stay at Comfort Inn hotels. Almost never more than $150 a night. Small towns down south are often well under $100. Generally they are nice enough.

The last time I had a work trip to Long Island, I flat couldn’t find a hotel. I slept in my truck.

New York City needs to mount a headstone at the city limits as a warning.

Yeah isn’t it great, Bob, Mary and the kids save all year to pay $300 a night to stay in a hotel while on vacation and they are surrounded by illegals staying for free with food allowances. Great just great.

there’s a VERY simple fix for this issue: tourists should simply visit anywhere else INSTEAD of visiting New York City ...
