Former New York Republican Rep. George Santos on Tuesday gloated over his former colleagues in the House GOP after the vote to impeach Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas narrowly failed. The final tally was 214-216, though Rep. Blake Moore, R-Utah, changed his vote to allow Republicans to bring the measure up again at a later date. Santos, for his part, posted an image of the House floor with the vote tally at 215-215 with the caption "Miss me yet?" Had Santos still been in Congress, his vote could have proved decisive. WASHINGTON — President Biden’s recent interactions with reporters in the spacious White House East Room have resembled press conferences, but with a twist: his staff selects which reporters attend, citing “spacing constraints” for why they exclude most White House correspondents. ... "This is all baloney. There is no space issue,” said veteran reporter Brian Karem, who has covered the White House since the Reagan administration. Karem says he has RSVPed and been denied every time. “This is unprecedented territory. It has never been as restrictive,” he said. ... Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Saturday that the U.S. needs a "tutorial" on how to treat other countries equally, marking his latest criticism of U.S. foreign policy as aggressive and undermining to global peace efforts. Wang said Washington should realize that no country is superior to others and that U.S. officials should realize that Beijing will not be talked down to... ...Earlier this year, Wang stirred controversy by saying the U.S. is "not qualified" to talk from a "position of strength," after Secretary of State Antony Blinken used the phrase to describe the Biden administration's approach to China.... COSTA MESA (CBSLA) — The price for a gallon of regular gas has climbed as high as $4.05 in Orange County recently, which is why many drivers headed to Sam’s Club in Fountain Valley, where gas was going for $3.30 per gallon Monday — a full 75 cents cheaper than the most expensive stations. “Gas keeps going up,” Mandy Hall, a driver, said. “I don’t know how they can justify doing like 10 to 20 cents a day, every time I turn around.” According to the Auto Club of Southern California, gas prices in Los Angeles County have hit their...

Secretary General. Joined by 34 other countries, the document enshrines the Trump administration’s pro-life diplomacy on the official record of the General Assembly. “The United States strongly supports the dignity of all human beings and protecting life from the moment of conception throughout the lifespan,” Ambassador Kelly Craft wrote to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres transmitting the Geneva Consensus Declaration on Promoting Women’s Health and Strengthening the Family. Following the letter, the declaration was issued as an official document of the United Nations last week and circulated on December 11, after having been translated into all six official UN languages....

JULY 11, 2009 7:00 AM Obama Frees Iranian Terror Masters The release of the Irbil Five is a continuation of a shameful policy. Andrew C. McCarthy There are a few things you need to know about President Obama’s shameful release on Thursday of the “Irbil Five” — Quds Force commanders from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) who were coordinating terrorist attacks in Iraq that have killed hundreds — yes, hundreds – of American soldiers and Marines. First, of the 4,322 Americans killed in combat in Iraq since 2003, 10 percent of them (i.e., more than 400) have been murdered...

Bushcare George W. Bush found the solution to America's healthcare crisis seven years ago. Too bad nobody listened. By EDWARD LAZEAR February 18, 2014 The Congressional Budget Office’s warning that the Affordable Care Act will cause employment to fall by the equivalent of 2.5 million full-time workers is just the latest of Obamacare’s negative surprises. Unfortunately, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s statement that “we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it†is proving to be depressingly accurate. The law’s defenders legitimately argue that it is not sufficient merely to criticize the Affordable Care...

President Barack Obama mistakenly confused Mitt Romney with his father George on Monday at a fund-raiser in New York – the latest in a string of election gaffes from US presidential candidates.

Look at how the Media was Blasting GWB just 4 years into his term. Take a gander at the stats....I WISH we could a deficit that low.... [article begins here] Sometimes I sympathize with President Bush. Really. Last week's dismal report on job creation -- a scant 32,000 jobs created versus 240,000 expected -- left our re-election-seeking president little wiggle room on the economic front. "Economic growth is strong and getting stronger," Bush told a gathering of minority journalists after the jobs number was released. It can't be easy to have to defend your economic policies when all evidence suggests...

WASHINGTON -- I in my innocence was, in the aftermath of SEAL Team Six's disruption of Osama bin Laden's bucolic life in posh Abbottabad, reading editorial comment by the great newspapers of this republic. As always, the Wall Street Journal was superb, pausing to congratulate President Barack Obama for "ordering a special forces mission rather than settling for another attack with drones or stand-off weapons from afar." The Washington Post was, likewise, informative and appreciative of the president's prudent decision to let SEAL Team Six do its thing, skirting the laws of a sovereign nation and acting unilaterally to put...

AL-UQAYLA, Libya (Reuters) – Muammar Gaddafi struck at rebel control of a key Libyan coastal road for a second day Thursday but received a warning he would be held to account at The Hague for suspected crimes by his security forces. Venezuela said Gaddafi had agreed to its proposal for an international commission to negotiate an end to the turmoil in the world's 12th largest oil exporting nation. "Bring Bush! Make a no fly zone, bomb the planes," shouted soldier-turned-rebel Nasr Ali, referring to a no-fly zone imposed on Iraq in 1991 by then U.S. President George Bush.

The Interior Department reversed a Bush-era policy on wilderness on Thursday, restoring the authority of its Bureau of Land Management to identify and recommend new areas for protection. Green Since 2003, the department has excluded wilderness as a criterion it applies in managing federal lands for the public benefit. “The new Wild Lands policy affirms the B.L.M.’s authorities under the law — and our responsibility to the American people — to protect the wilderness characteristics of the lands we oversee,” the bureau’s director, Bob Abbey, said in a statement. Environmentalists welcomed the decision but questioned why it had taken nearly...

A PPP poll (pdf) asked likely voters who they think is better at handling crisis, Obama or Bush. 54% chose President Bush. Only 33% picked President Obama.

Picking up on a nugget (my tweet) surprisingly included in a Wednesday Boston Globe article, on Thursday night FNC’s Bret Baier reported in his “Grapevine” segment: “President Bush is apparently more popular than President Obama on Martha's Vineyard – at least when it comes to clothing.” Baier relayed the day the First Family arrived on the Massachusetts island: When the First Family vacationed there last year, Obama-themed trinkets were flying off the shelves. Now, the owner of a store called the Locker Room says this summer's best-selling shirt features Mr. Bush. And even Democrats are buying it. It reads: “Miss...

Ed Morrissey notes that many who spent 8+ years detesting Bush as the worst moron-nazi-terrorist ever born of woman are now looking for him to break his post-presidential silence in the cause of aiding President Obama and the unpopular dont-call-it-a-Ground-Zero-mosque construction planned in New York City. It’s certainly a delicious irony to savor. Of course all of those pundits clamoring for Bush’s assistance are careful to point out that he is still an idiotchimp on every other issue but this one, but I have heard similar “I miss Bush” musings from others–those who always hated Bush, those who grew to...

Democrats again used former President George W. Bush as a foe in their latest TV ad campaign, driving home the point Republicans would restore policies that helped create the economic downturn. The Democratic National Committee (DNC) released a new cable ad Friday that harped on their campaign message that the November midterm elections will be a choice between Democratic policies that will bring the country out of the recession versus Republican policies that helped created it. No Republican is used in the ad aside from Bush -- who is shown saying "you can fool me but you can't get fooled...

I know I do. Set aside for the moment that he bought into Nancy Johnson’s outrageously expensive Medicare prescription drug program and try to remember this was the man who saw Islamofascism as a threat to national security and the battle against the terrorists as a war and not a police action. A man who saw his nation under attack and vowed not to let it happen again. Remember too, he was the man who refused to cave to the lefties who screamed the war was lost, and instead retooled his strategy in Iraq so Obama could claim victory. And...
