State officials are announcing today the state of Missouri is taking over the listing of the names of the dead and unaccounted for. NBC Action News has learned that 232 names have been formally filed with the state as missing and that the estimate of 1,500 unaccounted for is considered much higher than the reality.

Sunday, May 15 is the 30th annual Peace Officers Memorial Service. Law enforcement from all over the country gathered in Washington for National Police Week to honor fallen comrades-in-arms. Too bad President Obama couldn’t be there. Despite being invited to speak to the widows, children and friends of the 165 officers recognized this year as killed in the line of duty, he somehow didn’t think it was important to trek the two miles from the White House to the Capitol Building to participate. Perhaps it’s because Mr. Obama historically has had a conflicted relationship with law enforcement.

BOSTON -- The body of a missing Maine mother was found Wednesday, several days after her toddler daughter was abandoned in an idling car near a New Hampshire ski resort. The body of Krista Dittmeyer, 20, was found in a pond near the Cranmore Mountain ski resort parking lot where police Saturday found Dittmeyer's car running with the hazard lights flashing, according to Assistant Attorney General Jane Young.

President Obama called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday to wish him a good start to Passover, White House press secretary Jay Carney told reporters. Telling Bibi that he would host a seder at the White House, Obama “expressed hope that the Israeli people would be able to celebrate in peace,” Carney said. TOKYO, Japan - A passenger train with an unknown number of people aboard was unaccounted for in a tsunami-hit part of coastal Japan, Kyodo News reported Friday, citing police. The East Japan Railway Co. train was running near Nobiru Station on the Senseki Line connecting Sendai to Ishinomaki when a massive quake hit, triggering a 10-metre (33-foot) tsunami, the report said.

HOUSTON - A 18-year-old pregnant woman has gone missing and could possibly be in labor. Karen Denys Lara is 9-months pregnant, according to a release from the Texas Center of the Missing. She was scheduled to deliver her baby on Friday. Lara was last seen Thursday afternoon in the 5200 block of Willow Glen in southwest Houston. She left home telling family members she was going to walk to the store. She has not answered her cell phone and has not been located at any nearby hospital.
