Cities in red states such as Texas, Georgia, and Arizona are becoming increasingly deep blue as a wave of millennials and white liberals move from blue state cities, coupled with a booming foreign-born population.

"College Student: My Generation Is Blind to the Prosperity around Us” I’m sitting in a small coffee shop near Nokomis trying to think of what to write about. I scroll through my newsfeed on my phone looking at the latest headlines of political candidates calling for policies to “fix” the so-called injustices of capitalism. I put my phone down and continue to look around. I see people talking freely, working on their MacBooks, ordering food they get in an instant, seeing cars go by outside, and it dawned on me. We live in the most privileged time in the most...

It is the summer of our discontent, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll. Excerpts: The latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finds that — despite Americans’ overall satisfaction with the state of the U.S. economy and their own personal finances — a majority say they are angry at the nation’s political and financial establishment, anxious about its economic future, and pessimistic about the country they’re leaving for the next generation. “Four years ago, we uncovered a deep and boiling anger across the country engulfing our political system,” said Democratic pollster Jeff Horwitt of Hart Research Associates, which...

Based on the book by Chuck Palahniuk, Fight Club is an important and affecting examination of reality in the 20th century... It explores the downfall of masculinity and shift into post-industrial capitalism. Jack is a skinny man working a dead-end job in an unnamed office...The film presents him as one of thousands of men convinced they are little more than lower/middle class workers. Jack obsession with cleanliness and style diverts him away from desire. His obsession with IKEA furniture subverts the idea of masculinity. The film establishes Jack’s bond with similarly depressed individuals. Convinced he is sick, he visits group...

The key political partnership of the Millennial left was born over noodles. Saikat Chakrabarti met Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez at Potjanee, a Thai restaurant near his apartment in the West Village, in March 2017. She was looking to get into politics; he was helping fund people getting into politics through the Justice Democrats, the progressive political action committee he’d co-founded that year.

lyson Bender, who is going into her junior year at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, relied heavily on fans placed around her student housing to keep her cool during a recent heat wave. Still, the temperature in her on campus apartment crept toward 91 degrees over the weekend. Students staying at University Court over the summer are doing so without air conditioning, said Susan Isola, director of media relations at the university. Students are not permitted to use window AC units, she said, and are instead encouraged to use fans. When it gets really hot, Bender, who is studying...

It may seem a bit anti-climatic but this is the story that stuck in my craw like a tablespoon of cinnamon - Boomer Bequest Is Millennial Misery – subtitle: Saddled with student and public debt, today’s young adults will long pay the price for our elders’ folly. A hat tip to the copyeditor, just reading it raised my blood pressure. It also succinctly summarizes the article and lets you know out of the box that it was written by one of the aggrieved generation. Boomers invented the Happy Face which Millennials appropriated and turned into Frowny FaceBuckle up buttercups, this...

Socialist central planning has not worked very well in all the countries in which it has been tried, most recently in Venezuela Recently Bernie Sanders was asked the following question during a townhall meeting in Manchester, New Hampshire, by Harvard student, Samantha Frankel-Popell, whose father had fled the former Soviet Union. “My father’s family left Soviet Russia in 1979 fleeing from some of the very same socialist policies that you seem eager to implement in this country.” She followed up with the question, “How do you rectify your notion of Democratic socialism with the failures of socialism in nearly every...

More young people are leaning into the rental or sharing economy — owning less of everything and renting and sharing a whole lot more. Housing, cars, music, workspaces. In some places, such as Los Angeles, this rental life has gone to an extreme. Steven T. Johnson, 27, works in social media advertising and lives in Hollywood. He spends most of his days using things he does not own. He takes a ride-share service to get to the gym; he does not own a car. At the gym, he rents a locker. He uses the gym's laundry service because he does...

Financial independence, once a hallmark of adulthood, has gone by the wayside as adult children increasingly depend on their parents to help them cover the cost of rent, student loans, health insurance and more. But parents' desire to give their children a financial assist could be misguided -- and even backfire in the long run. Half of American parents are unable to save as much as they'd like to for retirement, and their grown offspring -- whom they still count as dependents -- are to blame, according to a new Bankrate.com study. While they likely mean well, parents who support...

A survey conducted by Schoen Consulting in Canada for the Azrieli Foundation and the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, also known as the Claims Conference revealed some disturbing data about Holocaust awareness. 75 years after the end of World War II, 54 percent of those surveyed did not know that six million Jews were killed during the Holocaust. 62% of millennials, people born in the 1980s and ’90s, did not know that six million Jews were killed in the Holocaust. 22% of millennials haven’t heard or are not sure if they have heard of the Holocaust. An alarming...

The next generation of conservative leaders have been watching and waiting for a cause where they can make a tangible difference and be a part of history in the making. For years, they felt hopeless. But today, the scene looks very different. Ben Shapiro has teamed up with Convention of States to funnel his millions of young listeners into the fight to call a Convention of States. In a matter of weeks, tens of thousands of young activists have flooded into the movement, taking on leadership positions, and being trained to take back their power from Washington, D.C. These are...

A third of millennials fail to make it through their three-month probation periods, a human resources expert has revealed. Greg Weiss helps businesses integrate new workers but admits facing challenges with Generation Y. He told Daily Mail Australia that millennials regularly under-perform, or are late or absent, and switch jobs often due to social media-induced envy.

The yells of “DOWN WITH COMMUNISM!” and “LONG LIVE CHRIST THE KING!” would make the walls of the prison tremble!” wrote a 21-year-old poet who’d been imprisoned, tortured and threatened with a firing squad by photogenic U.S. media-hailed “hipsters” who’d recently nationalized most of his nation’s means of production. The defiant yells the imprisoned poet heard almost daily through the window of his gloomy dungeon were always cut short by another one of “FUEGO!” and a thundering blast -- as Che Guevara’s firing-squads murdered defiant young heroes. At the time the poet, name Armando Valladares, was younger than Nick Jonas is today,...

Axios published the results of a Harris poll Sunday which found that Millennials and Gen Z are more “embracing socialism.†Actually, the poll didn’t ask about any particular definition of socialism, it simply asked if respondents would prefer living in a socialist country. Nearly half of Millennial and Gen Z respondents said yes. Does that mean they want the U.S. to be more like Sweden or Cuba? My guess is the former though I’d bet money fewer than 1 in 10 could explain the difference. Most of the rest of the questions were about policy positions including “Abolishing ICE†and...

The United States is experiencing the benefits of a robust economy. At the top of the list are a strong job market and increasing wages. Some Democratic politicians are not able to accept the good news brought by President Trump and his economic team. Case in point – California Rep. Maxine Waters. Waters is the new chairman of the House Financial Services Committee.Friday Waters spoke to the 22nd Annual Wall Street Project Economic Summit organized by Jesse Jackson. She apologized to millennials searching for jobs, unable to find salaries they think they are entitled to or something. As crazy...

New research from Barna reveals that a about half of millennial Christians believe it's "wrong" to evangelize. The new report, "Reviving Evangelism," commissioned by Alpha USA, examines the experiences of persons who share their faith and their attitudes toward evangelizing. Nearly every practicing Christian believes that part of their faith is being a witness about Jesus and that the best thing that could occur for someone is to receive Christ, survey results in the study show. Millennial Christians, those born between 1984 and 1998, say they feel equipped to share their faith with other people with nearly three quarters responding...

Arguably the most notorious moment of the Fyre Festival, apart from the ill-fated event itself, took place during a planning meeting in March 2017, a month before the April 27 launch. That was when the organizers learned how unprepared they were to put it on. There were no vendors, no stages had been rented, performers had not been paid, no transportation arrangements had been made, there was not enough space for the accommodations (which had not been set up), and to meet even the lowest possible expectations would cost $50 million. The sound advice was to cancel and plan immediately...
