Buffalo, NY - UB is removing the names of Millard Fillmore, James O. Putnam and Peter B. Porter from four locations. UB says the decision aligns with "the university’s commitment to fight systemic racism and create a welcoming environment for all." Putnam Way, a road on North Campus, will be renamed Mary Talbert Way in honor of the Buffalo civil rights pioneer. I enjoy reading the daily comic strips that are available through the Internet and this morning I made an effort to see how many would make any mention of this 9th Anniversary. While I have not read them all, it would appear that, in this area of public consciousness, we are forgetting. I can understand the lack of this is the specific children-oriented strips but to have only 2 strips (Millard Fillmore & Day By Day) making that mention seems to be a real lack.
