I enjoy reading the daily comic strips that are available through the Internet and this morning I made an effort to see how many would make any mention of this 9th Anniversary. While I have not read them all, it would appear that, in this area of public consciousness, we are forgetting. I can understand the lack of this is the specific children-oriented strips but to have only 2 strips (Millard Fillmore & Day By Day) making that mention seems to be a real lack.
TOPICS: Culture/Society; News/Current Events; Political Humor/Cartoons; Your Opinion/Questions
KEYWORDS: daybyday; millardfillmore
I will hope for better tomorrow and next year. Time will tell but the lack is hard to accept.

One Big Happy has never failed to make me tear up on the anniversary of 9/11.
It does make me a little sad to see the rest of the comics ignoring the anniversary. I understand it's only healthy to pick up and carry on with our normal lives, but is there anything wrong with keeping just one day a year sacred to 9/11?

Thank you for the addition. Still too few but I have hopes for tomorrow’s Sunday Strips and for next year when the date will be a Sunday.

Time heals wounds, life does move on.
Next year will be different as will the 15th, 20th and 25th anniversaries. The country does not stop on December 7th either. Nor do we stop on other tragic anniversaries.
There are select commemorations on some cable channels and there are ceremonies across the country. It is not as if the country is ignoring it.

I don’t know if he did any 9-11 related strips but the
late Johnny Hart did a controversial B.C. strip in 2003 showing crescent moons, a vertical symbol representing an “I”
and the word “SLAM!” with an outhouse. A character says
“Is it me, or does it stink in here?” Some were outraged.

The "Slam" is in a vertical panel which could seen as an "I". (Hart also did a few other pro-Christian, perhaps anti-Islam strips)

Well it appears that aside from editorial cartoons the count is 5 of which 4 are reliably conservative. Yes, I know that this is only the 9th Anniversary but I remember previous coordinated days of single comic ideas. Yes, there is some TV Programming but my feeling is that the “Popular Culture” does not want to remember this. So once again we try to forget that which is uncomfortable as well as non-politically correct.

OK, add this week's
Geeks on Caffine to the list. Since it is also reliably conservative, I guess we are war-mongering right-wingers for wanting to remember that tragic day and the innocents who died then as well as the Heros who stepped up to Heaven.

Would you like me to send you tomorrow's cartoon thread? There are probably about 30 of them that are 9/11 related...
