"I have a story that my Dad sent me the other day about my Grandfather. It is amazing... It is about my Grandfather who was on the West Virginia at Pearl Harbor. When the ship went down, the necklace he bought for his mother was in his locker. He borrowed some diving equipment and went and retreived it. ...When I first saw the photo, I thought it was my son. The resemblance to my son is uncanny. I don't know when this article first appeared, but I think it was sometime in 1942. There was no date on the clipping....

THE LADY I wonder what she thought As she stood there, strong and tall. She couldn't turn away, She was forced to watch it all. Did she long to offer comfort As her country bled? With her arm forever frozen High above her head. She could not shield her eyes She could not hide her face She just stared across the water Keeping Freedom's place. The smell of smoke and terror Somehow reduced her size So small within the harbor But still we recognized... How dignified and beautiful On a day so many died I wonder what she thought,...

CAPTION THIS PHOTO - SUSAN SARANDON'S national antiwar media blitz to air seconds before President George Bush addresses the nation in his State Of The Union Address. President Bush will address the nation on Tuesday, 28 January at 8 P.M. Sarandon's timing of her 30-Second meida blitz just seconds before the President presents his cause in the war against terrorism is a desparate grasp at reaching the hearts and minds of many Americans and a direct attempt at painting the President as a "War Monger." She is backed by many of her influential colleagues in Hollywood - including a former...

It's both right-wing and vast, but it's not a conspiracy. Actually, it's more of an anti-conspiracy. The subject is Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), closely related ailments (henceforth referred to in this article simply as ADHD). Rush Limbaugh declares it "may all be a hoax." Francis Fukuyama devotes much of one chapter in his latest book, Our Posthuman Future, to attacking Ritalin, the top-selling drug used to treat ADHD. Columnist Thomas Sowell writes, "The motto used to be: 'Boys will be boys.' Today, the motto seems to be: 'Boys will be medicated.'" And Phyllis Schlafly...

Americans are eating themselves into an early grave, a study found. And carrying a spare tire into middle age can be just as deadly as smoking. Obesity at 40 skimmed an average 7.1 years from the lives of women, 5.8 from men, researchers said yesterday. Fat people who smoke are in the express lane to the great beyond, with men living 13.7 years less than nonsmokers and women losing 13.3 years. "The message is that you have to work early on your weight," said Dr. Serge Jabbour of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. "If you wait a long time,...
