During the first Virginia gubernatorial debate in mid-September, Democratic nominee Terry McAuliffe assured voters he would not question the election results if he lost. He may not have meant it, though. On Thursday, five days before the Virginia elections, it was reported that McAuliffe has hired election attorney and liberal activist Marc Elias. As law professor Jonathan Turley pointed out, this suggests McAuliffe may be preparing to challenge the election results should his Republican opponent, Glenn Youngkin, win. As I referred to Elias in April, he's "the gift that keeps on giving." At the time he was mocked over a...

Former FBI Director James Comey testified by video earlier this week before the Senate Judiciary Committee, where part of his testimony appeared to contradict what Andrew McCabe has previously told Congress. Perhaps the ex-deputy FBI director could help clear up any confusion caused by his former boss’s testimony, but he certainly doesn’t seem in any hurry to do so: Catherine Herridge @CBS_Herridge NEW #Russia #Durham: McCabe declines to testify next week @senjudiciary citing "manifest danger” of Covid-19 among Committee members + “McCabe is eager to testify voluntarily...at a future date when it is safe” McCabe conditions : in-person, not Zoom...

The biggest October surprise of the 2020 elections came in the form of a laptop, reportedly belonging to Hunter Biden, discovered in a Delaware computer repair shop. The device, and its damning contents, have grown into a campaign-killing scandal for Hunter’s father, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden. ... Unfortunately, not everyone in Washington, D.C., is itching to get to the bottom of this case. Some, like Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, are actively working to suppress an investigation into the laptop allegedly belonging to Hunter Biden. “We write regarding press reports concerning materials allegedly describing activities by Hunter Biden, and...

Virginia Secretary of Public Safety and Homeland Security Brian Moran told Richmond talk radio host Jeff Katz on Monday that Governor Terry McAuliffe “made the decision . . . to shut things down” at Emancipation Park in Charlottesville...August 12. Appearing on Katz’s 1140 AM WRVA radio program, Moran explained the rapidly moving sequence of events that began at 11:22 a.m. when he phoned Governor McAuliffe from the City of Charlottesville Command Center located on the sixth floor of the Wells Fargo building in downtown Charlottesville, just a few blocks from Emancipation Park. “In light of the escalating violence we had...

Report: Charlottesville Racist Leader Was Former Occupy Activist, Obama Supporter by Joel B. Pollak 15 Aug 2017 The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) reports that Jason Kessler, the organizer of last Saturday’s white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, is rumored to be a former Occupy Wall Street activist and supporter of Barack Obama. The left-wing SPLC is often partisan and overzealous in targeting hate groups, lumping legitimate conservative organizations together with actual extremists. Therefore its identification of Kessler’s left-wing roots is significant.

State police investigating alcohol agents’ arrest of University of Virginia student Martese Johnson have forwarded a report including several hundred pages of documents to Charlottesville’s top prosecutor. Details on the findings were unavailable, and it’s unclear whether the report, which also includes hours of recorded interviews, will be made public. Requested by city Commonwealth’s Attorney Dave Chapman, the probe is one of two state police launched in the wake of Johnson’s arrest early March 18 outside a Corner pub. Gov. Terry McAuliffe also ordered an investigation. Chapman, who was prosecuting a murder trial Wednesday, was unavailable for comment. The law...

If you ever doubted that money outweighs principles in contemporary politics, then the case of Richmond campaign consultant Boyd Marcus should permanently erase such ambiguity in your mind. Marcus, a prominent figure in Virginia politics for two decades, made headlines in August when he abandoned a lifetime of supporting Republicans to endorse Democrat Terry McAuliffe for governor. McAuliffe’s team and Marcus trumpeted the conversion as an important political sign that mainstream Republicans were rejecting the tea party conservatism espoused by GOP candidate Ken Cuccinelli II. Instead, we learned Thursday, the primary motive was entirely mercenary. An e-mail was made public...

Thread for discussion of tonight's VA Gov Elecitons Result. Is this too early?

Leave it to Mark Levin to say exactly what many conservatives have believed but not said. The RINO wing of the GOP — and Karl Rove specifically — do not want a Ken Cuccinnelli victory in Virginia.

The Roanoke Times on Thursday endorsed no one for governor, joining the Richmond Times-Dispatch and The News & Advance of Lynchburg in finding none of the nominated candidates worthy of support. (snip) In an editorial titled “A Year to Regret and Regroup” the Roanoke paper said it could not back Republican Ken Cuccinelli, Democrat Terry McAuliffe or Libertarian Robert Sarvis. The paper’s editorial board wrote that “those who cannot in good conscience vote for the official candidates should consider writing in Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling.”

There’s still time for victory in the Old Dominion. Ken Cuccinelli is accustomed to winning political races against the odds. Now the conservative Virginia attorney general faces what might be his longest odds yet in his bid for his state’s governorship in the election eight days from now. But wise conservatives won’t count him out just yet. First, the bad news: Both of the two most recent two polls on Cuccinelli’s campaign against Terry McAuliffe, an infamous political fixer during the Clinton presidency, show Cuccinelli trailing by seven points, and an outlying poll on October 20 had him down 17....

A dying mechanic wanted a few thousand dollars to leave to his wife, two sons and infant daughter. A politically connected millionaire, now running for Virginia governor, wanted to make some money. And a Rhode Island estate planner wanted to become ambassador to the Vatican. All three came together on paper in late 2006 in a deal struck just two months before the 44-year-old mechanic died of cancer. The mechanic got $5,000. The millionaire, Democrat Terry McAuliffe, made at least $47,000. But the estate planning lawyer, Joseph Caramadre, went to prison instead of Rome. Caramadre helped McAuliffe place a bet...

When William F. Buckley, running as the Conservative Party’s candidate for mayor of New York in 1965, was asked what he would do if he won, he replied: “Demand a recount.” Robert Sarvis, Libertarian Party candidate for governor of Virginia, will not need to do this.

On Wednesday, Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe, a Democrat, said he would "push" for more gun control if he is elected governor in a debate with Republican Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli. McAuliffe invoked the Washington Navy Yard, Aurora, and Newtown tragedies and asked, "How many people have to be killed until we wake up to have sensible gun ownership?" He said he was "dismayed with United States Senate this year" for not bringing up a bill which was co-sponsored by Sens. Pat Toomey (R-PA) and Joe Manchin (D-WV) that would have mandated universal background checks. "As governor, I'm going...

Deeds wins Democratic nomination for governor RICHMOND Defying early predictions that he might finish last in a three candidate field, Creigh Deeds won the Democratic nomination for governor in Tuesday’s primary election. Deeds, a state senator from rural Bath County, raised less money than his two rivals, yet managed to best them both as a dark horse candidate with a lean, focused campaign that used its resources effectively. His win sets up a rematch of the 2005 attorney general’s race, which he narrowly lost to Republican Bob McDonnell – a recount showed the men separated by 360 voters out of...

These signs have been popping up all over northern Virginia. I thought the press was not supposed to be biased nor actively campaigning for a particular candidate?

Team, I heard before that Moran was the weakest but now I am hearing from well-placed sources that we should vote for Terry McAuliffe. Yes, he can raise money BUT he has extremely high negatives and many, many skeletons in the closet. So, please, hold your nose and vote for Terry in the RAT primary.

RICHMOND -- As one of Bill Clinton's closest friends, Terry McAuliffe was there to console the president on the Truman Balcony of the White House in 1994 when voters delivered a humiliating rejection of the Clinton presidency by turning over control of Congress to the GOP. McAuliffe was there to tell Bill and Hillary Clinton that they didn't need to worry about mounting legal expenses in 1998. "We'll take care of it," McAuliffe told the president one weekend at Camp David. And when Clinton couldn't get a loan to buy a house in New York state so Hillary could run...
