Leland Yee should be making national headlines. A Democratic state senator from San Francisco, a statewide candidate until this week, and a rising member of Nancy Pelosi and Diane Feinstein’s Democratic political machine, was arrested on Wednesday by the Justice Department for wire fraud, corruption, and his alleged involvement in illegal gun deal between Chinatown gangsters and Islamist militants. **SNIP** Yet four of the most prominent news outlets in America — CNN, USA Today, Politico and the Chicago Sun-Times — made no mention of the Leland Yee scandal within two days of the story breaking. When Politico finally ran a...

  • Duncan concedes misleading comments on 'pink slips'

Education Secretary Arne Duncan tried Friday to explain his claim that teachers have already been laid off because of sequestration –– all he'd meant to say was that teachers have been warned about layoffs tied to the federal spending cuts. "Let me be really, really clear about this, we're getting caught in the details here: What I said was that teachers were getting notices. In the district we talked about, 110 teachers have gotten notices," he said during a question-and-answer session at Rolling Terrace Elementary School in Takoma Park, Md., just outside the District of Columbia. "Now I think there...
  • (Vanity) Neither CNN nor MSNBC has the SHIRLEY SHERROD story on their page!

The media in this country are IMO beyond help. I think Russians in Cold War Russia got more leaked news than is available through these "news" channels. Absolutely pathetic. Imagine a white person in power saying he discriminates against blacks and the entire thing was caught on tape! It would be running in the MSM 24/7. But switch colors and????? Nada. Again, pathetic.

The 2004 American presidential election is shaping up to be a rough one by recent standards with questions already rife about President Bush's National Guard service and Senator John Kerry's private life. But in historical terms, this is quite mild stuff and there is a moderating influence these days in that the heavyweight US media are reluctant to get involved in what they see as private issues. Both the New York Times and the Washington Post, for example, have written about whether President Bush actually carried out his duties as a pilot in the Texas Air National Guard in 1973....
