On Wednesday’s broadcast of ABC’s “The View,” First Lady Jill Biden argued that companies like Target and Walmart are lowering prices because President Joe Biden told them to and he’ll continue to tell CEOs to lower their prices, but also stated that other companies like McDonald’s brought down their prices because “they’re responding to you” the customer, but “We can’t have this corporate greed.” Biden said, “[I]t’s what Joe is doing. So, you’re right, inflation is down. But recently, he’s been meeting with CEOs of the major companies like Target and Walmart and grocery stores to say, you have to...

The White House took a victory lap this week for purportedly “lowering costs” to American families preparing to celebrate Thanksgiving this year, while ignoring rising prices that have affected consumers since President Biden’s election in 2020. “This Thanksgiving, we have a lot to be thankful for. While inflation caused by the pandemic and Russia’s war continues to be a challenge, we have seen important progress,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said during a Monday press briefing at which she displayed a hypothetical Thanksgiving menu to make her point. Jean-Pierre highlighted that gas prices have decreased $1.70 from their peak...

President Biden held a meeting with White House officials Monday to discuss the administration's plan for combating rising prices as inflation continues to surge throughout the U.S., reaching levels not seen in 40 years. In remarks ahead of the meeting, the president touted an executive order he signed in July aimed at increasing competition by cracking down on larger firms in industries that the administration sees as too "consolidated," referring to the issue as a decades-old problem the federal government needs to address.

President Biden on Wednesday said his social spending bill will help lower prices after the Labor Department released a report detailing that annual inflation hit a 30-year high. The president argued that the "human infrastructure" bill would combat inflation because it would bring Americans back to work. “Going forward, it is important that Congress pass my Build Back Better plan, which is fully paid for and does not add to the debt, and will get more Americans working by reducing the cost of child care and elder care, and help directly lower costs for American families by providing more affordable...

White House officials have reportedly been in touch with representatives from major U.S. oil and gas companies about how to bring down prices in the U.S., Reuters reported Wednesday. The Biden administration has been in touch with industry representatives after crude oil hit a seven-year high of $80 this week, according to Reuters, citing two sources with knowledge of the conversations. The reported conversations occurred days after oil prices in the U.S. hit $81.50 a barrel, the first time since October 2014 that U.S. crude closed at more than $80.

RALEIGH, N.C. - School employees in one state might be feeling happier these days after learning the bar for failing could be lowered, and by a lot. The North Carolina legislature is considering a change in the grading system for the state's public schools. The bill in question would be based on a 15-point scale, rather than a 10-point scale for grades. That would mean only scores lower than 39 percent would qualify for an F grade for schools, a far cry from the current 60 percent failure mark in the state and most others. Student grades would be unaffected...

The easiest way to get a "green light" for a movie in Hollywood these days is to steal someone else's old idea. That old idea, however, must be updated. With Hollywood there's just one formula: cinematic remakes of vintage TV shows or old movies are almost always made sleazier -- more sexual, more violent, more obscene and more cynical -- than the original. According to Hollywood's calculations, today's young audiences will be disappointed if there isn't an over-the-top raunchy moment every two minutes or so. This is the mandate to be "modern," to avoid the stench of appearing -- watch...

Gasoline prices are high, and we need to make them go down! I have started a petition that can be downloaded at http://www.biggreenfish.com/gaspetition. This petition asks that the United States Congress do everything within its power to lower gas prices to a bearable level, and that it set the initiative for scientists and engineers to find the best alternative fuel source to gasoline and discover the best way to convert our nation to that new fuel source. Download it and pass it on to all your friends. I will turn the signed petitions for my area over to my congressional...

President Bush has ordered U.S. flags lowered in honor of Bob Hope, the legendary entertainer who died Sunday in California of pneumonia. Hope was 100 and had celebrated his birthday just two months earlier. Mr. Bush said in a proclamation Monday that as a mark of respect for Hope's memory, flags will be lowered at the White House, public buildings, and U.S. posts and military installations worldwide on the day of his burial. Flags are also to be flown at half-mast on U.S. ships that day. The burial will be private and held in the coming days. President Bush praised...
