White House officials have reportedly been in touch with representatives from major U.S. oil and gas companies about how to bring down prices in the U.S., Reuters reported Wednesday.

The Biden administration has been in touch with industry representatives after crude oil hit a seven-year high of $80 this week, according to Reuters, citing two sources with knowledge of the conversations.

The reported conversations occurred days after oil prices in the U.S. hit $81.50 a barrel, the first time since October 2014 that U.S. crude closed at more than $80.

For years I’ve had the thought that they can’t really be that stupid regarding economics, obviously I was wrong.

They are that ignorant.

Putting forth the illusion that the high gas prices are the fault of the oil companies and in no way tied to any White House policies or decisions.

They can eliminate the Federal Gas Tax immediately.

Are they going to start pumping Oil from the Strategic National Reserve next? That stupidity always gives the Public a false sense of security.

What a comedian he is. His own policies contribute to what we are seeing with rising gas prices. Yet he is willfully blind , and he and his henchmen are unable to see connections between his own policy changes and prices at the pump.

The only thing worse about being this stupid is them being this evil. These severe screw ups are planned. Border, Afghanistan, Covid, Energy, Backlog of container ships sitting immobile at California ports for weeks etc.

Reminds of the joke where a man kills both parents but then wants sympathy because he is an orphan.

The Democrats created this mess and are at a loss on how to fix it.

Oh, the DEMs know exactly what is causing the high gas prices. They just want to convince the sheep that someone else is at fault (oil companies, etc.). People here have to remember none of this is being addressed to members of this forum. It’s been that way for a *long* time, but Freepers keep insisting that somehow the rest of the country sees things as we do. Guess again.

If the oil companies refuse to take his call, he can contact me. I only had one economics class but I still remember the thing about supply and demand.

For years I’ve had the thought that they can’t really be that stupid regarding economics, obviously I was wrong.

They are that ignorant.

This is how Socialism always goes. Venezuela did the same thing. When things start going wrong due to strangling industry, they double down and put in price controls in an attempt to keep prices lower and stop inflation. That naturally drives everyone out of business as the price they are allowed to sell at is forced by the government to be lower than the cost of making or acquiring the item.

Biden is going down that path. He already demanded OPEC lower prices, and they said no. Now he is talking to our industry to make prices lower than is economically feasible.
