Seems like COVID's everywhere again. But here's good news from Pfizer! This season's updated COVID-19 shots are now available for ages 6 months and up, and they're designed to help protect against recent variants. That is why today, at 8pm, the Empire State Building turned its iconic building blue to announce that the CDC recommends everyone 6 months of age and older get this season's updated COVID-19 shot. The blue light symbolizes our gratitude and appreciation for the updated vaccines and all those who made it possible.

New York - The Empire State Building was lit in red, white and blue on Thursday night for women's suffrage as more than 100 people protested a refusal by the iconic skyscraper's owner to mark Mother Teresa's 100th birthday. Yet the colors that the Catholic League had requested in her honor were the most luminous against the darkened skyline: The building's 203-foot pinnacle blazed a brilliant blue, while the stories just below glowed a frosty white. A fading red was just visible underneath. (Snip) But the building's owner, Anthony Malkin, declined the Catholic League's request to honor the ethnic Albanian

David Huckabee, 26, the son of former Gov. Mike Huckabee, was arrested early Thursday morning for allegedly attempting to board an airplane with a handgun at Little Rock National Airport. After being released from the Pulaski County Jail, Huckabee called the incident "a silly mistake" and said "it shouldn't" affect his father's presidential campaign. According to the police report, the gun was a Glock and had a clip in it. Huckabee was asked if he knew what was in the bag, and “he replied he did now.” The report says he told authorities that he forgot the gun was in...

Zoo Wants Chimpanzee to Stop Smoking Fri Apr 15, 8:39 AM ET Oddly Enough - Reuters JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - A South African zoo is trying to persuade its star chimpanzee to kick a bad smoking habit. Charlie, a grown male chimp and the Bloemfontein Zoo, has been picking up cigarettes thrown to him by visitors and smoking them -- a habit he probably picked up by observing humans, zoo officials told the SAPA news agency on Thursday. "Baby chimps pick up habits by mimicking adults and we think he started mimicking smokers at his enclosure which probably led to smokers...

I am reading the Horatio Hornblower series, by Forester, and I came across a rather interesting paragraph that I think applies to our situation today: Indeed, the tide of war was turning against England. Nation after nation had retired from the contest against France, some worsted by arms, and some by the diplomacy of the vigorous young republic. To any thinking mind it was obvious that once the step from war to neutrality had been taken, the next step would be easy, from neutrality to war on the other side. Hornblower could foresee, close at hand, a time when all...
