WASHINGTON, D.C. – America First Legal (AFL) has filed a bar complaint with the Committee on Professional Standards against New York Attorney General Letitia James. The complaint requests an investigation into allegations outlined in a recent criminal referral from the U.S. Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), claiming that AG James committed mortgage fraud. On April 14, 2025, FHFA Director William J. Pulte sent a criminal referral to the U.S. Department of Justice alleging that AG James has, in multiple instances, “falsified bank documents and property records to acquire government-backed assistance” as well as “loans and more favorable loan terms.”

Attorney’s Building Blunder In a high-stakes response to a federal criminal referral, Letitia James’ defense lawyer, Abbe David Lowell, submitted a letter to U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi that made a stunning error: he fundamentally misunderstood the very property at the center of the investigation. The letter, prompted by the FHFA’s referral for potential mortgage fraud, falsely claimed James’ Brooklyn property “has always functioned as a four-person residence.” But official records, utility infrastructure, and tenant complaints paint a very different—and legally significant—picture.

In New York, a panel of five judges at the Appellate Division, First Department heard arguments surrounding former President Donald Trump’s appeal, and the panel’s line of questioning seems to cast doubts on several core aspects of the state’s allegations. The judges raised probing questions about the use of a consumer fraud statute, the scale of the financial penalties pursued by the prosecutors, and the private nature of the transactions involved. These points echoed key defense arguments that, despite not prevailing at the initial lengthy trial, seem to hold substantial weight. Notably, Trump was not present at Thursday’s hearing. The...

“The Land the Law Forgot,” is what liberal legal scholar Jonathan Turley called New York in June. Oh, it’s not that it doesn’t have laws; it’s got so many, in fact, that studies found it to be our country’s least free state. It’s that N.Y.’s supposed law enforcers are ideological enforcers, using and going beyond the Empire State’s surfeit of strictures to build an empire of left-wing conformity. Letitia James’ Vendetta And now Letitia James, the notorious N.Y. attorney general who tag-teamed with a judge to try to pummel former President Donald Trump, has claimed another scalp: nonprofit anti-(destructive)immigration entity...
  • Massive civil fraud verdict against Trump gets frosty reception at New York appeals court

Appeals court judges appeared to question the legitimacy of the civil fraud case against Donald Trump as the former president urged the court Thursday to overturn a judgment against him that has ballooned, with interest, to more than $478 million. In February, a Manhattan trial judge found that Trump and other defendants — including his adult sons, Don Jr. and Eric, along with several business associates — fraudulently inflated his net worth and the value of his real estate properties to obtain favorable rates from banks and insurers. The nearly half-billion-dollar penalty ordered by the trial judge initially threatened to trigger...

  • EXCLUSIVE: NY AG Letitia James Failed To Disclose Six Figure, Dark Money Loan Possibly Tied To Anti-Trump Media Operatives

The details for the $770,000 loan that AG James has been hiding and withholding from her financial disclosures are nonexistent in James’s 34 page 11/3/2017 mortgage agreement that was recorded with the Office of the Register within New York City’s Department of Finance. Additionally, James never mentioned the $770,000 loan from French in her financial disclosure form when she was running for office to become New York’s Attorney General. Her failure to disclose this loan on her financial disclosure forms is not only unethical, but it is highly illegal. This dark money loan fails to conform to the norms of...

Department of Justice (DOJ) special prosecutor Jack Smith accused former President Donald Trump of making “daily extrajudicial statements that threaten to prejudice the jury pool” in a Washington, D.C. court filing – in an apparent attempt to muzzle the 2024 presidential candidate. At the same time, New York Attorney General Letitia James wants Donald Trump, Eric Trump, and their lawyers fined tens of thousands of dollars for defending themselves against a civil fraud lawsuit she is pursuing, alleging their legal arguments are “frivolous”. Former President Trump’s defense team is asking for two weeks to review and respond to Smith’s filing...

It has long been known, though rarely spoken of publicly, that Valerie Jarrett, Senior White House adviser to Barack Obama and perhaps the single most influential figure in Washington D.C. deems the Supreme Court as the key to solidifying her version of America for generations to come. Maybe that is why she has allegedly set her sights on damaging perhaps the most conservative member of that court, Justice Antonin Scalia. Two days ago, Justice Scalia remarked during a case involving the University of Texas and race-based admission policies that favor minority students over white students. Scalia cited an amicus brief...
