This is about all of us, this is about you,” Gavin Newsom declared this week, his eyes boring into the lens of a camera. In a televised speech styled like a State of the Union address, the California governor warned that the scenes in Los Angeles, where thousands of military troops took to the streets this week to clamp down on protests against President Trump’s immigration raids, were a taste of things to come. “Other states are next. Democracy is next. Democracy is under assault before our eyes. This moment we have feared has arrived,” he said. Newsom’s latest battle...

Just watched Part 2 of season 5 (for the second time) where Dutton gets sworn in as governor. Did anyone notice the following: Singing of the National Anthem was MUTED. Dutton, Beth and the new Senator did not cover their heart or make any effort to display their allegiance to our country during the singing of the National Anthem. The former Post Managing Editor, who is now an Associate Editor, listed the free services Finns get: "They...

YOUR TYPICAL practitioner of right-wing hate radio, whose daily rants feature not just a radical ideology but healthy doses of sexism, racism and homophobia, doesn't ordinarily get to interview someone like the vice president. But there was Dick Cheney just last month cozying up to Rush Limbaugh - and not for the first time. But wait - Rush Limbaugh, the most popular radio host in America, a purveyor of "right-wing hate radio?" Absolutely.

COMMENTARY Beinart: Truth is, Hillary has always been a centrist Peter Beinart, SPECIAL TO THE WASHINGTON POST Advertisement Tuesday, May 10, 2005 Hillary Clinton has moved to the center in preparation for 2008. One of the reasons it's so uncontroversial is that it seems innocuous, even flattering. It shows how shrewd a politician Clinton is. She knows Democrats must do better among hawkish, culturally traditional voters — so she's moving in that direction herself. But in fact the...
