While John and Yoko had their bed-in protest at the Hilton...over in Czechoslovakia, singer Marta Kubišová, was in the streets, protesting for freedom while Soviet tanks rolled through the city. During this communist show of force, Kubišová's "A Prayer for Marta" became an underground anthem of freedom. Kubišová wasn't imprisoned--merely banned--reduced to a menial job for 20 years. Above is a video; Kubišová sings the anthem from a balcony--impromptu--just after communism has fallen; a crowd gathers in the streets; they see her perform for the first time in 20 years....
