(vanity) This Czech singer, Marta Kubišová was in the streets, protesting for freedom while Soviet tanks rolled through the city. During this communist show of force, Kubišová's "A Prayer for Marta" became an underground anthem of freedom. Kubišová wasn't imprisoned--merely banned--reduced to a menial job for 20 years. Above is a video; Kubišová sings the anthem from a balcony--impromptu--just after communism has fallen; a crowd gathers in the streets; they see her perform for the first time in 20 years: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npMZ7UxwVgU
And to think that there are people who voted for this type of madness in our country should scare the daylights out of us.
Exactly right. All those “D” voters would be happy to drive the tanks here.
Thanks so much for posting this, Bogle. I’ve never heard this story before.
It brought tears to my eyes for many reasons, first and foremost we stopped the Democrat tank drivers from taking over our country.
It’s a spell binding video. The cheers for Marta, the crowd chanting her name, the complete silence of the crowd while she’s singing, the images of many people wiping away tears knowing they’ve overthrown communism.
If only 70 million of our countrymen understood what communism is, how it sneaks in under many guises, and how hard it is to throw it off.
