An amateur photographer has told how he managed to get this amazing picture of a cat balancing on a 17th floor balcony railing. Ivo Berg, 22, a marketing engineer from Berlin, was visiting a friend who lived with his two pet cats in a high rise in Santiago, Chile. He said: "As soon as I got to my friend's apartment I fell in love with the view but I was also very worried about the suicidal behaviour of his two cats. "They would chase each other through the apartment, fighting and playing. But they would also jump on to the...

Working with a rescue organization brings a lot of joy and occasional heartbreak. Please pray for my cat Wilby. He is a very special guy. A little less than a year ago, a retired nun found his mother under her porch with a new litter. At first, it seemed like none of the kittens had survived. Wilby was still in his birth sac and was about to be buried when he began to move. He was sent to our organization with his mother where he was eventally weaned and fostered. Last evening, he became very ill. It is not known...

Not just anyone would be willing to share a story like this. Since I'm me, I will. Do not attempt to give a cat a pill. The vet will tell you it's a simple procedure. Comfort said kitty, gently open her mouth, pop in the pill, and stroke her throat so she'll swallow the medicine. He might even suggest you tightly wrap her in a towel, so as to protect yourself, although he will use no protection at all. Here's what will really happen. You'll comfort the kitty. "Sweet, Cutie! This medicine is going to help you feel better!" You'll...

Air traffic controllers in Siberia claim they were buzzed by a high-speed UFO with a female sounding alien who spoke in an unintelligible cat-like language. The mystery object suddenly burst onto flight monitors over the remote Russian diamond capital of Yakutsk. It was shown flying at a speed of slightly over 6000 mph, and rapidly changing direction in the early morning sky, it is claimed.

My mom and I were actually looking to adopt a new cat when we got Jack. I have a friend who boards her horse at a local riding stable and one of the barn cats gave birth to a kitten. It seemed that spaying didn’t work on the cat, so she gave birth to a single, deformed kitten and was not able to produce milk. Luckily the owners recently had her fixed, so I’m hoping this doesn’t happen again. Jack (at the time he was known as Stevie Wonder) was born without eyes. He’s very lucky with his timing....

Kiburi, a 10-day-old cheetah cub, opened his eyes today at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park's Animal Care Center. He took in the world, gobbled down a bottle, played for a little while, and then went back fast asleep in the window of the nursery. Safari Park guests can see the 1.4-pound bundle of fur in the nursery's window. While he sleeps between 20 and 22 hours a day, he gets a bottle of special formula every 2 ½ hours and also has taken to playing with an adorable ferociousness. Of the 134 cheetahs born at the San Diego Zoo...

Ratue was already very thin due to her terminal illness; a disease in the blood, most likely from a parasite. She no longer had the energy to eat food, much less properly digest it, so the body had to survive the only way it could: by devouring her own fat and muscle tissue. Organ failure began to set in around 5:50 in the afternoon on Sunday, August the 23rd, 2010. When I heard my stepmother wailing over Ratue's deteriorating condition, I bore witness to what would be the cat's final hour. She was disoriented and confused. Whenever she tried to...

I am sick and tired of this site being taken over by Catholics ( of which I am one ) stories or proverbs. This is a news site not a religion site. Go do that somewhere else. I am not opposed to your prostilazion(sp), just not here. We lose credibility if any religious group dictates or can be quoted from this site. As a long term member of this site I regret posting this information, but the site has been buried in Catholic stuff recently and it should be shunted to some separate page.

Three years ago Ben Huh visited a blog devoted to silly cat pictures — and saw vast potential. Mr. Huh, a 32-year-old entrepreneur, first became aware of I Can Has Cheezburger, which pairs photos of cats with quirky captions, after it linked to his own pet blog. His site immediately crumbled under the resulting wave of visitors. Sensing an Internet phenomenon, Mr. Huh solicited financing from investors and forked over $10,000 of his own savings to buy the Web site from the two Hawaiian bloggers who started it. “It was a white-knuckle decision,” he said. “I knew that the first...

A Charleston pet owner got a serious surprise when their cat gave birth to a litter of kittens on Wednesday, one of which had two faces. According to WCHS-TV, six kittens were born in the litter and one stood out from the rest. The small kitten, named Two Face, has two mouths, two noses and four eyes. The rare birth defect, known as diprosopus, is uncommon in animals, particularly cats, and most don't survive. So far, Two Face has been nursing with the rest of the litter and appears to be healthy and beating the odds, according to the report.

A kitten, believed to be about 6 weeks old, is now being cared for by the Animal Rescue League of Iowa after being found this week in the trash. ARL Director Tom Colvin says the baby girl kitten, now named “Alley,” was one of six kittens found by Waste Management workers in Des Moines early Wednesday morning. “They were found in a garbage bag…when one of their trucks came in and dumped its load,” Colvin said. Alley was the only kitten still alive. Colvin says Alley is very fortunate, not only to survive, but also because she seems comfortable around...

A South African woman who worked at Chipangali Wildlife Orphanage in Zimbabwe was killed when she was attacked by an adult lion... Robyn Lotz, 26, from Pretoria, whose life's mission was caring for and rehabilitating neglected and injured wild animals, was attacked after a worker presumably didn't close the gate to the lion's cage properly. Clinton Lubbe, 37, Lotz's brother-in-law, said on Wednesday the workers had apparently been cleaning the lion cages. According to a post on the Facebook page of the animal rehabilitation centre, the lion pushed the gate open and crawled through a smaller gate, used to throw...
