It was called the wave of the future—the recently tapped U.S. ambassador to Switzerland was sworn in last month with her hand not on a paper Bible, but on top of a Kindle. Techies called it revolutionary and applauded Suzi Levine for making history. But she wasn’t the only one who went high-tech when she took the oath of office. A county executive from Long Island, N.Y., used the Bible app on an iPad to be sworn in last year and a few months ago a group of firefighters from New Jersey huddled around a Kindle Bible when they took...

I am pleased to announce the publication of my new thriller that may be of interest to the broader FR community (some members have already read it). It's called TROPHY TARGET and involves some conservative friendly themes, such as the consequences of not taking the threat of Islamic terrorism seriously. Below is a summary and link to more information. TROPHY TARGETtro·phy ['trō-fē] tar·get [ˈtär-gət] - A uniquely high value individual captured and used by an enemy as leverage for political, military or other strategic purposes Deep in the jungle of French Guiana, a once anonymous soldier of the French Foreign Legion...

I had a good response to putting the Enemies trilogy novels on Kindle free runs the last three weeks, so I decided to go ahead and do it with everything I have. The Bracken Anthology is a good introduction to my stuff, both fiction and nonfiction, so if you can spread the links to your "low information" friends and family, it might slap some sense into them. Or just entertain them. I'm doing these free runs prior to going sailing next year, and spending (I hope) a lot of time over the horizon and unconnected. All of these "internet published" short...

My first novel, Enemies Foreign And Domestic, is available free in the Amazon Kindle store today through Thursday. Then on the next two Mondays I'm going to do it with the other two novels in the Enemies trilogy. If you haven't read my novels about defending freedom while America is being "fundamentally transformed" into a socialist police state, I hope you will take this opportunity to do so. But even more importantly, I hope you will share these links beyond the "conservative choir." We already understand why the 2nd Amendment is so critical to our freedom, but millions of reachable...

Big news from author, warrior, and patriot Matt Bracken. On Monday (10/14), "Enemies Foreign and Domestic" will be available for free download on Kindle for four days. "Domestic Enemies" will be made similarly available the following Monday (10/21), and then "Foreign Enemies and Traitors" on 10/28. On social media, the author stated: "I can't see much point in 'hoarding' the Enemies trilogy. If it's going to do any good, make any impact outside of the already-converted patriotic American 'choir,' it has to happen pretty soon. Nobody will give a damn about the Enemies Trilogy as a footnote to history if we...

I have always been a reader and one of my snobbish instincts has been to shun people who do not read. Houses without books or magazines leave me cold. Yet now I realize that I have not bought a dead tree book in months and I have hit that Amazon link "Tell the publisher" many many times! On my iPad I have more than 240 books plus several Bible versions and multiple periodicals. Now I find myself refreshing my mind about a particular passage in a book in minutes instead of almost never. Additionally, I am privileged to be able...

Features dozens of never-before-seen photos of the B-29 in action A fast-paced, riveting account that puts the reader in the cockpit of a four-engine bomber over enemy territory Detailed account of combat, mission by mission The B-29 bomber was made to soar in thin, cold air, dropping its massive bomb load from heights so great that the crews might never see their targets through the clouds below. • How Kindle $parked Bam: Amazon employees gave Obama $116,000 before exclusive interview

WASHINGTON — So that’s how you land an exclusive interview with President Obama. Employees of Amazon, which scored a coup by securing a rare one-on-one interview with the president for its journalism outlet Tuesday, donated more than $116,000 to Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign, according to data compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics. That’s more than four times as much as the roughly $25,000 that the Internet giant’s workers gave to Republican challenger Mitt Romney. Obama and Amazon also have a business relationship. Not only does Amazon peddle Obama’s books, but its Amazon Web Services helped build the high-tech data...

This is the text description of the free ebook on Amazon: Publication Date: July 31, 2013 In this Kindle Singles Interview, President Barack Obama decried the "change in culture" that has changed our view of the American Dream. "There was not that window into the lifestyles of the rich and famous," the President said. "Kids weren’t monitoring everyday what Kim Kardashian was wearing, or where Kanye West was going on vacation, and thinking that somehow that was the mark of success." He addressed the jobs issue from a personal perspective, reflecting on how his own life might have been different...

The abrupt resignation this week of William Lynch, the 43-year-old Barnes & Noble chief executive, was only the latest in a catalogue of troubles at one of the US's biggest book chains. If this were a business whodunnit, nobody could fail to spot the culprit: Amazon. Still, with bookshops everywhere in retreat as the internet takes an ever greater slice of their trade, it seemed to many that a chain with its own dedicated e-reader – the Nook – could have the answer. But with Barnes & Noble's device struggling to make any headway against Amazon's Kindle, that strategy, and...

An Amazon Kindle user has had her account wiped and all her paid-for books deleted by Amazon without warning or explanation. The Norwegian woman, identified only as Linn on media commentator Martin Bekkelund's blog, approached Amazon when she realised her Kindle had been wiped. She was informed by a customer relations executive that her account had been closed, all open orders had been cancelled and all her content had been removed, but has been unable to find out why. The move, which will shock ebook fans, highlights the power digital rights management (DRM) offers blue-chip companies. DRM is used by...

SNIPPET: "Social media is no longer simply a fun way to share updates on the harmless idiosyncrasies of our lives. It can undermine national security, and there ought to be a more robust discussion between the Bay Area technology world and Washington on what to do about it. Cyber-terrorism, especially the potential for electronic tampering with U.S. industrial or military installations, is a paramount national security threat that Washington is working to forestall. We're all working to protect our accounts from hackers. But the cyber-threat getting far less public attention involves the social media networks we use every day and the...

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — Amazon.com Inc. is expected to pick up share in the tablet market in the fourth quarter with strong sales of its Kindle devices, though Apple Inc.’s iPad will remain the dominant product line in the segment, according to a brokerage report on Tuesday. Analysts at Pacific Crest said supply-chain research shows increased production orders for the Kindle Fire HD, which Amazon (US:AMZN) now sells in a variety of sizes and configurations. The broker raised its forecast for the Kindle line, which is now expected to account for 13% of tablet shipments for the year compared with...

Wal-Mart is reportedly planning to stop sales of Amazon Kindle products in its stores, Reuters reported, apart from its existing inventory and pending orders. According to Reuters, the decision was outlined in a memo obtained by the wire service that said the change is in line with the company’s merchandising strategy. It follows a similar decision from retailer Target, which announced in May that it would no longer sell Kindle devices. ~snip~ While Wal-Mart is the world’s largest retailer, it competes fiercely with Amazon, which is ambitiously expanding the number of goods and services that it delivers straight to its...
