Despite setback, TransCanada says it is still committedNebraska regulators on Tuesday shot down a request from TransCanada to reconsider the proposed path of the Keystone XL oil pipeline, the latest in a series of setbacks for the $8 billion project and one that leaves its future very much in doubt. Nebraska’s Public Service Commission (PSC) last month green-lighted a route through its state, but the approved path wasn’t the one TransCanada prefers. The Canadian company, which has been trying to complete the Canada-to-Texas project for the past decade, said it would ask Nebraska officials to rethink their decision and amend...

The leak was detected along a stretch of the pipeline about 35 miles south of a pumping station in Marshall County, South Dakota. TransCanada estimates the pipeline leaked 5,000 barrels of oil, or about 210,000 gallons, before going offline. The company said it's working with state regulators and the Pipelines and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration to assess the situation. The South Dakota Department of Environment and Natural Resources heard about the leak at about 10:30 a.m. Thursday, ABC affiliate KSFY reported.

Energy Transfer Partners, the developer behind the so-called DAPL, is scheduled to start delivering oil on May 14 to Illinois, according to filings from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. The oil project is expected to transport more than 500,000 barrels of oil a year across the eastern section of the country. ... The Obama administration rejected the previously approved pipeline last December ... President Donald Trump eventually issued orders approving the DAPL in January ... many demonstrators have begun diverting their attention to the equally contentious Keystone XL Pipeline, another oil pipeline Trump approved through executive order. Obama originally rejected...

Environmental activists vowed over the weekend to fight the Keystone XL oil pipeline to the bitter end, insisting the Trump administration’s approval of the long-delayed project will not be the final word. Powerful green groups are launching a two-pronged strategy to block the pipeline in the streets and in the courts. First, they intend to use a state review process in Nebraska — where Keystone still does not have a legal route, despite federal approval of the project — to delay any movement forward. Nebraska state officials charged with approving the pipeline’s path say a decision shouldn’t be expected until...
  • Trump State Department Approves Keystone XL Pipeline – Creating THOUSANDS of New Jobs

    03/24/2017 7:21:45 AM PDT · by davikkm · 23 replies
The Keystone Pipeline project was expected to create tens of thousands of high paying jobs in the oil industry. The project itself would create 20,000 construction jobs. And the pipeline would bring oil from Canada and North Dakota to refineries in the United States. (Bob McCarty) Obama rejected the plan in 2011 and again in 2015. This week the Trump State Department signed and issued permits for the completion of the Keystone XL Pipeline.

President Trump’s pledge that new pipeline projects will use “American steel” will not apply to the Keystone XL project, according to media reports, directly contradicting the president’s own words last week. Politico reported late Thursday night that a White House spokeswoman explained that the project, which has been in the works for the past decade, does not count as a “new” or “retrofitted” pipeline, and therefore is not subject to Mr. Trump’s made-in-America requirement. Comments from TransCanada, the company proposing the project, on Friday morning seem to confirm the firm will not be forced to use all U.S. steel. The...

Obama's veto hurt the Democrats and Hillary in the blue collar counties of the formerly Democratic states of Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin Remember in 2011 when former Canadian Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper publicly told a New York reporter after speaking before the U.N. General Assembly, that U.S. approval of the Keystone oil pipeline was a “complete no brainer”. Harper was right then as Trump is right now for pushing forward on this oil pipeline once again. At the time, Harper knew that Americans and their government only acted in pursuit of their own national interests.

President Trump plans to sign executive orders reviving the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines, which had been stalled under the Obama administration, sources tell Fox News. The moves had been widely expected, as Trump blasted his predecessor for effectively blocking the projects amid environmental and other concerns. While the Canada-to-Texas Keystone project was at the center of a heated debate for years until the Obama administration rejected a key permit in November 2015, the Dakota pipeline more recently became the subject of fierce protests until the Army Corps of Engineers in December blocked construction of a controversial segment. The...

Seven years of foot-dragging followed by a political denial cost the company a fortune. The boss explained in detail back in November why Obama’s refusal to permit the Keystone XL pipeline was a load of crap. We’ve talked about it a lot here, and when we do, we usually focus on all the economic benefits to the United States that were lost because Obama chose to cater to his extreme leftist environmentalist base rather than govern like a serious person. But we didn’t focus quite as much on the blow this dealt to TransCanada, the company that proposed to build...

Aides scrutinized, sometimes blocked release of documents requested under public-records law WASHINGTON—When Hillary Clinton was secretary of state, her staff scrutinized politically sensitive documents requested under public-records law and sometimes blocked their release, according to people with direct knowledge of the activities. In one instance, her chief of staff, Cheryl Mills, told State Department records specialists she wanted to see all documents requested on the controversial Keystone XL pipeline, and later demanded that some be held back. In another case, Ms. Mills’s staff negotiated with the records specialists over the release of documents about former President Bill Clinton’s speaking engagements—also...

President Obama said Monday that the Keystone pipeline and other such fossil-fuel development projects would make Earth "uninhabitable." "We've got to lead by example, because ultimately, if we're going to prevent large parts of the Earth from becoming not only inhospitable but uninhabitable, then we're going to have to keep some fossil fuels in the ground rather than burn them," Mr. Obama told cheering grassroots supporters at a gathering in Washington.

From one who specializes in it. It’s bad enough that President Obama dragged his feet for seven years before doing what everyone knew he was going to do. TransCanada, the Canadian government an awful lot of Americans who could have used the economic boost (including the folks in North Dakota and an awful lot of Obama’s union supporters) were left to twist in the wind while Obama pretended he was “reviewing” the proposed Keystone XL pipeline. Of course, he was doing no such thing. He knew on Day 1 he was going to reject it because that’s what his extreme...

Issues statement on Obama Administration’s rejection of Keystone XL Pipeline WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) issued the following statement after the Obama Administration rejected the Keystone XL Pipeline:“Today, President Obama once again confirmed what most of us already knew: he does not care about American jobs or the American economy. He remains controlled by a radical environmentalist agenda, which seeks the elimination of whole segments of our economy.“It’s also notable that President Obama’s decision today is in direct contravention to the wishes of Congress, not to mention the recommendation of his own State Department. The State...

Governor Backs Eminent Domain For Pipelines Posted 10:11 pm, November 2, 2015, by Aaron Brilbeck, Updated at 10:16pm, November 2, 2015 DES MOINES, Iowa -- This week, the Iowa Utilities Board will discuss whether to use eminent domain to seize property from landowners to use for a massive oil pipeline. Dakota Access, LLC wants to use the land for an underground pipeline that would carry roughly a half million barrels of crude oil from North Dakota, through Iowa and to a distribution center in Illinois. Governor Branstad says he believes eminent domain can and should be used for some pipeline...

TORONTO — The company behind the controversial Keystone XL pipeline from Canada to the U.S Gulf Coast has asked the U.S. State Department to pause its review of the project. TransCanada said Monday a suspension would be appropriate while it works with Nebraska authorities for approval of its preferred route through the state. The move comes before the Obama administration was widely expected to reject it. For seven years, the fate of the 1,179-mile (1,900 kilometer) long pipeline has languished amid debates over climate change, the intensive process of extracting Alberta’s oil and U.S. energy security The pipeline has long...

The Canadian election Monday ousted a strong supporter of the Keystone XL pipeline. And it brought into office another strong supporter of the Keystone XL pipeline. The new Canadian premier, Liberal Party leader Justin Trudeau, has supported the construction of the controversial Keystone XL pipeline as well as TransCanada’s proposed $12 billion Energy East pipeline, both of which would carry bitumen from Alberta’s vast oil sands to ports and world markets.

RUSH: Hillary Clinton has come out against the Keystone pipeline. Folks, I hope she's doubling her security, because she and her husband have taken multiple millions of dollars in donations and speaking fees personally from banks and other industries in favor of the Keystone pipeline. She has taken money, I mean it's $3.6 million total. Investors have given both Clintons combined $3.4 million right into their pockets. This is not for their little Crime Family Foundation. This is straight to them. Canada banks are among the largest contributors. And Mrs. Clinton used to be for the Keystone XL pipeline. It's...

Hillary Clinton wants to wait until she wins the White House before taking a stand on the controversial Keystone XL pipeline. At a town hall in New Hampshire on Tuesday, Clinton responded to a question from the audience asking if she would sign a bill approving the pipeline by saying that she would not "second guess" President Obama's decision. Should the issue still be alive in January 2017, however, then Clinton will say what her position is. "If it's undecided when I become president, I will answer your question," Clinton said. That answer is sure to rile environmentalists who have...
