DC sues to block Trump’s federal takeover of its police department as intervention intensifies

WASHINGTON (AP) — The nation’s capital sued to block President Donald Trump’s takeover of its police department in court on Friday, hours after his administration escalated its intervention into the city’s law enforcement by naming a federal official as the new emergency head of the department.

Washington’s police department chief said Trump’s move would threaten law and order by upending the command structure. “In my nearly three decades in law enforcement, I have never seen a single government action that would cause a greater threat to law and order than this dangerous directive,” Police Chief Pamela Smith said in a court filing.

The legal battle playing out Friday showed the escalating tensions in a mostly Democratic city that now has its police department under the control of the Republican presidential administration that exists in its midst. Trump’s takeover of the police department is historic yet had played out with a slow ramp-up in federal law enforcement officials and National Guard troops to start the week.

As the weekend approached, though, signs across the city — from the streets to the legal system — suggested a deepening crisis over who controls the city’s immigration and policing policies, the district’s right to govern itself and daily life for the millions of people who live and work in the metro area.

Washington’s top legal official was pushing in court Friday to reverse the order putting the head of the Drug Enforcement Administration in charge of police in the nation’s capital.

Tracking the lawsuits against the Trump administrationHundreds of lawsuits have been filed during President Donald Trump’s second administration challenging his executive orders as well as actions taken by his administration. See the full list....

Seems like now is the time to carve off Georgetown (Western DC) and everything east of Anacosta....giving it back to Maryland.

So who filed this lawsuit, anyway? The headline says “DC sues”, what, exactly, does that mean?

No court could possibly have jurisdiction over the power of Congress to legislate for DC “in all cases whatsoever”. The assumption of control over the DC police comes about from a clause in the DC Home Rule Act, passed by Congress.

This is getting silly.

The greatest infinity extant (and yes, there are many levels), is the representation of the amount of criminal evidence hidden and held by the multiverse’s most corrupt collection of scum, villainy and fugliness: The DemocRAT party.

DC wasn’t able to have law and order -
President Trump is restoring law and order -
DC suing to stop law and order.

And somehow President Trump is the bad guy…

A meaningless graphic, IMHO...

What is needed is a simple list of “current numbers”
- Number of Trump’s actions blocked...
- Number of Trump’s actions continuing in effect...
- Number of Trump’s actions translated into law by Congress...

From the ‘Chief Pamela Smith” link in the article -
“Smith took on her role as police chief in the nation’s capital in November 2023 and briefly served in other units, including the homeland security bureau. She also led the police force’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts and had served as chief of the United States Park Police after a long career in that federal force.”

‘Nuff said.

As usual with the Lying Left, the Dems, and their Dept of Media Outreach, this is a constitutional issue. The Constitution set guidelines for the district for which the sole purpose of the location is to house the federal gov’t (US Const., Art. I, Sec. 8, Cl. 17).

For instance, the Constitution mandates the size of the location of the federal gov’t - Washington D.C. - to not exceed ten miles square.

The actual area of Washington D.C. is 68 square miles.

Another in a long line of reasons to nuke the 80+%, $3+ trillion unconstitutional portion of the feds.

Close, not Boasberg, but Reyes, the judge who blocked the transgender military ban:

UPDATE: The case has been assigned to Biden Judge Ana Reyes, who previously blocked the Trump Administration from banning transgender individuals from the military before the DC Circuit Court paused her injunction.

Her three decades of law enforcement experience had to be in the motor pool or personnel, she could not have been an effective street officer. Less than 10% of female officers are effective on the street, same goes for about 50% of males.
