House Speaker John Boehner said today that he found it painful to be described as "spineless or a squish," but said the worst comments about him was that he was "the establishment." Boehner's comments came during a news conference where he was touting his conservative credentials and rebutting criticism from the right that he has become too willing to work with President Obama.

Republicans are not going to let her off the hook, insuring that they will take her out at the knees if needed. They plan on playing the kind of hardball politics that made she used so often. Thursday, May 14, 2009, Pelosi blasted the CIA, claiming that they lied to her about torture. “Yes, the CIA mislead me,” Pelosi said, firing both barrels. “They mislead Congress. Just like Bush. They lied. Bush lied. And they’re not going to get away with it!”

House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) took a whack at the Bush administration on Wednesday for failing to disclose all of the financial institutions that are getting emergency loans under the $700 billion bailout. Boehner said the Treasury and Federal Reserve should comply with a Freedom of Information Act request into who is receiving taxpayer money, and “they must begin providing lawmakers and taxpayers all information about how they are using federal tax dollars.” Boehner said the bipartisan negotiations behind the financial bailout package stressed the need for meaningful oversight of how the money was being spent.
