[HARTFORD, CT] – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) today issued the following statement on the death of United States District Judge for the District of Connecticut Jeffrey Meyer: “Judge Meyer was a brilliant legal thinker, a relentlessly fair jurist, and a wonderful human being. He epitomized the ethos of doing justice from the bench with courage, compassion and strength. He was endlessly kind and generous, and I was proud to count him as a friend. My heart and thoughts go out to his family.”

During an appearance on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360 on Tuesday, Washington Post columnist Michael Gerson took a swipe at supporters of Trump and accused them of being ultra-right wing, nationalist individuals. Gerson, who has been a harsh critic of Trump, argued that the Republican presidential candidate and his supporters have a “resentment of outside, of Mexico, of China, and immigrants.
