Federal investigators determined that the Secret Service was “reasonable” in choke slamming a photographer at a February 2016 Trump rally at Radford University in Virginia. Videos emerged shortly after the event showing the photographer, Christopher Morris, getting slammed to the ground by a Secret Service agent in a gray suit, who was identified as William Figueroa. According to a classified Department of Homeland Security (DHS) inspector general report obtained by Politico, investigators found the “use of force was reasonable in light of the totality of the circumstances.” Among other reasons, investigators found that Figueroa was acting in self-defense amid the...

President Trump and his daughter Ivanka Trump's donations to Sen. Kamala Harris's (D-Calif.) California Attorney General Campaign gained renewed attention after she was named former Vice President Joe Biden's running mate in the 2020 general election. According to the California Secretary of State, the Trumps donated a total of $8,000 to Harris's campaigns from 2011-2014. Trump, a former real estate tycoon and television personality, announced his candidacy for president in 2015, and has not held public office before that.

Planned Parenthood of Greater New York (PPGNY) announced Tuesday that it will remove the name of Margaret Sanger, who founded the national organization, because of her racist legacy and her connections to the eugenics movement. Planned Parenthood's Manhattan Margaret Sanger Health Center will be renamed, and city officials are also working to rename the nearby “Margaret Sanger Square.” The organization said the new name would be announced soon. Sanger, who was a nurse, established the first birth control clinic in the U.S., which would eventually become the Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The PPGNY said the decision came out of...

More than two dozen former prosecutors, judges and active trial lawyers filed a brief backing the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) decision to dismiss the case against President Trump's former national security adviser Michael Flynn. The bipartisan group of former government attorneys are asking U.S. District Court Judge Emmet G. Sullivan for them to formally file an amicus brief on the case. The group includes former Whitewater independent counsel Kenneth Starr and U.S. Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.). “The issue presented in this case is whether the court has discretion to deny a motion to dismiss to which the defendant consents, as...

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said President Trump’s speech on Iran will be a highlight of his presidency, comparing it to former President Reagan's 1987 speech in Berlin urging Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev to "tear down this wall." The Wednesday night remarks on Fox News by Graham, who frequently offers public praise of Trump, were ridiculed as hyperbolic by critics. “This speech will be talked about long after his second term,” Graham said. “This is on par with Reagan's ‘tear down this wall’ speech.”
