Professor Paul Rahe follows up on his post "Obama's gestures": Just under three weeks ago, I wrote a Power Line post drawing attention to a photograph released by the White House, showing President Obama nonchalantly leaning back in his chair with his feet on the desk, the soles of his shoes clearly visible while speaking on the phone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In that post, I noted that some in the Israeli press interpreted the release of the photograph as an expression of contempt intended for Arab consumption, inspired by the hurling of a shoe at President Bush...

Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) claimed Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that Trump administration officials who were saying the content of a Signal group chat on military strikes against the Houthis was not classified information was insulting Americans. Host Martha Raddatz said, “There have been very strong denials from the administration that there was anything classified. So, quite simply, was this classified information or not?” Warner said, “Absolutely. It was such a nature when you are doing the actual battle plans and the timing, what type of aircraft were being sent out, if you had a traditional military officer or a...

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that the Democratic Nation Convention was a “hatefest full of insults.” Host Jake Tapper said, “Millions of viewers tuned in a bit more than tuned into the Republican convention. It was disciplined. It was well well-produced, it conveyed patriotism and unity. The Harris campaign says it’s raised an eye-popping $540,000,000 in 35 days. You are as close to Donald Trump as anyone is what he saw this week making him in his campaign nervous at all?”

Meghan McCain, the daughter of the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), is putting pressure on Vice President Harris — the presumptive Democratic nominee for president — to address policy issues such as immigration and inflation, instead of leaning on personal attacks “No matter how much momentum and media love Vice President Harris is getting right now — I don’t know her excuses for our s— inflation and open borders, where literal terrorists are crossing,” she wrote Saturday in a post on social media platform X.

It used to be females were XX. It used to be society had a definition for a woman. It used to be women could do her business in a restroom without a hairy man in the next stall asking to borrow a tampon. It used to be women could strive for blue ribbons but now have to quietly bow down to men and settle for participation ribbons. It used to be women could get dressed in a locker room without a fully intact XY picking up our panties that fell on the floor. It used to be little girls and...

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Sunday pushed back against Gov. Chris Christie’s strategy of launching attacks at former President Donald Trump — and discussed plans to ratchet up his mainstream media exposure in the crowded 2024 GOP field. DeSantis, in an interview on Fox News’s “MediaBuzz,” was asked to respond to Christie’s claims that he is the only Republican presidential candidate to go toe-to-toe with Trump, 77, because the others are to afraid of offending the front-runner or his supporters. “I don’t do insults so that is true,” DeSantis said. “I think just getting in this insult game turns voters...

Former President Trump launched a series of new attacks Friday at the state of Florida in a new email campaign taking aim at Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R). “The real DeSantis record is one of misery and despair,” Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung said in a statement. “He has left a wake of destruction all across Florida and people are hurting because he has spent more time playing public relations games instead of actually doing the hard-work needed to improve the lives of the people he represents.”

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich insulted a Capitol Hill reporter after the journalist asked him to comment on the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. “What do you think about the January 6 committee,” Scott Wong, a reporter for NBC News who previously worked at The Hill, asked Gingrich during a press scrum at the Capitol on Thursday.

Leftist Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau endured a second day of intense heckling, insults, and accusations of prioritizing his political power over the health of citizens on Wednesday in a heated session of Parliament. Trudeau is currently under fire from both the left and right for his handling of the ongoing “Freedom Convoy” protests, which have made their biggest impact in the national capital, Ottawa, but have surfaced in multiple major cities and American border crossings. As of Thursday, truckers are blocking the largest crossing between the two countries – Ambassador Bridge between Detroit and Windsor, Ontario – and have...

Two recent studies looked at the relationship between personality traits and reactions to restrictions put in place to slow the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19. Researchers found that people possessing so-called "Dark Triad" traits—narcissism, psychopathy and Machiavellianism—were less likely to comply with restrictions or engage in preventative measures against the pandemic. However, researchers also emphasized the small role personality traits have in the overall response to pandemic restrictions, like face-mask mandates and social-distancing requirements. Both studies, which, combined, surveyed more than a thousand people in Poland, were published in the peer-reviewed academic journal Personality and Individual Differences. In "Adaptive and...

"As you know, Alabama does not take orders from Washington," Sessions told Trump. Former Attorney General Jeff Sessions blasted President Trump's "juvenile insults" on Saturday in a marked departure from his characteristically tepid responses during the years of attacks from his former boss. Trump had tweeted that Sessions was a "disaster" while offering support for Alabama Republican Tommy Tuberville, who's running against Sessions for the Senate seat he held for decades before entering the Trump administration. "Jeff Sessions is a disaster who has let us all down. We don’t want him back in Washington!" Trump wrote.

Pope Francis in Mozambique: More Ridicule and Demagoguery from the Merciful Pope The “Pope of mercy,” as John Allen calls him, has spent the past six-and-a-half years mercilessly heaping ridicule and demagogic slurs on faithful Catholics he does not like. The recent papal jaunt to Mozambique was no exception. After telling a group of Jesuits to form a circle of chairs around him to listen to his remarks, Francis proceeded to denounce a woman who had introduced two converts to him earlier that day and then made fun of priests in traditional dress, accusing them of immorality and mental imbalance.Concerning...

Pope Francis has spoken out against what he called today’s “culture of insults” in the world. In his homily during Pentecost Mass in St. Peter’s Square, Francis also said that “the more we use social media, the less social we are becoming”. He warned of the temptation to cling to “our little group, to the things and people we like,” saying it was only a “small step from a nest to a sect, even within the church”. The pope said that “nowadays it is fashionable to hurl adjectives”, and recommended people respond “to malice with goodness, to shouting with silence,...

A Special Jewish Woman, the Pharisees, and a Good Opportunity Missed By Pope Francis In spite of the progress in the historical work on the Pharisees, preaching all over the Christian world continues to depict these Jewish teachers as xenophobes, elitists, legalists, lovers of money and moral hypocrites. Moreover, in general the term ‘Pharisee’ implies ‘Jew,’ since many Jews and Christians consider the Pharisees the precursors of rabbinic Judaism. Therefore, even when Christians use the term ‘Pharisee’ to denounce clericalism in ecclesial contexts, they do nothing but reinforce prejudice toward Jews.”That’s how Amy-Jill Levine, a Jewish American from Vanderbilt University,...

article class="tile"> Francis Suddenly Calls His Favorite Insult “Pharisee” A “Negative Stereotype” Pope Francis says one thing today, and the opposite tomorrow. After having insulted Catholics and others countless times as "Pharisees," he suddenly experienced a conversion. During a May 9 audience for the Pontifical Biblical Institute and participants of a Conference about Pharisees, including Jews, Francis complained that the "history of interpretation" has fostered a "negative image of the Pharisees," often "without a concrete basis in the Gospel accounts.” He even called the negative use of the word "Pharisee" an “ancient and most damaging stereotype," implicitly pronouncing judgement over...

President Donald Trump made a rare appearance at a church last Sunday. It’s a safe bet the sermon was not based on Proverbs 15:1—”A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” If it was, it didn’t appear to have much effect. Before and after church, the president engaged in a tweet storm that insulted several people, including the late Sen. John McCain. Trump accuses McCain of being complicit in the leak of the Steele dossier, a private intelligence report compiled by former MI6 officer Christopher Steele for the political research firm Fusion GPS, which, among...

"Kanye West is what happens when negros don't read" "Black folks are about to trade Kanye West in the racial draft" "He's an attention whore" "He's a token negro" "He clearly has issues" "He's already been hospitalized" Don Lemon can't stop laughing. This is all because Kanye West is a Trump supporter.

The insults against Trump and 63 million or more of us coming from the memorials and funeral of John McCain are a serious mistake. I know you folks read Free Republic or have staff who do and inform you of what is written here. You are very foolish to be insulting us and Trump via traitor McCain's funeral. Here's the end result: Those of us who didn't like you before have reached end point. You either get to the business of finishing us off, or long term, we're going to get you. Talk about division...you've have really set it up...
