Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) claimed Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that Trump administration officials who were saying the content of a Signal group chat on military strikes against the Houthis was not classified information was insulting Americans.
Host Martha Raddatz said, “There have been very strong denials from the administration that there was anything classified. So, quite simply, was this classified information or not?”
Warner said, “Absolutely. It was such a nature when you are doing the actual battle plans and the timing, what type of aircraft were being sent out, if you had a traditional military officer or a CIA caseworker and you were this sloppy and careless with this classified information, you would be fired no doubt about it.”

The Rats are not letting this go. This is old news that should have left the news cycles days ago.
Its all they have right now….. no one cares. Has Goldberg been arrested yet for disseminating “classified” info?
“The Rats are not letting this go.”
That’s because its all they have got!
So now, besides digging, they are beating a dead horse.
Maybe they can put the dead horse they are beating into the hole they are digging along with the Democrat Party.
I wonder why they never randomly give “whiz quizzes” to the bozos on Capistol Hill. Those people all act like they are on some serious drugs. Waving golden handled pimp sticks at the President, spewing profanity like a bunch of doped up Aunt Teefah SS Troopers and stealing elections like America is a lawless third world sewer where all their illegal alien voters originally come from.
Why isn’t he calling for the arrest of Jeffrey Goldberg for publicizing it?

MAGA supporters manifestly base their support for or against Ukraine not on logic but solely upon a signal from Donald Trump. So far, Trump’s logic has not caused him to take a similar stand against Israel that he has taken against Ukraine; quite the contrary, Trump is an enthusiastic supporter of Israel.
Why doesn’t the logic Trump applies to Ukraine also apply to Israel? After all, Israel has been at war with its neighbors since the Old Testament, even longer than Ukraine. Israel’s enemies have larger populations, more oil, much more geographical and material resources, so why do we risk war on behalf of a handful of Israelis against a hundred million Arabs and a billion Muslims?
Our alliance with Israel has arguably caused us casualties in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria and Lebanon in wars that Trump has decried.
Our beat down of Ukraine has estranged us from our allies in Europe to the point where many there actively fear and loathe America. We have sacrificed Europe to extricate ourselves from Ukraine. Yet we bomb the Houthis for the benefit of Europe? Or is it for the benefit of Israel?
What is the upside for the United States in this alliance? Do the Israelis have a huge economy? Do the Israelis have nearly half a billion people? Does the Israeli conflict have any reasonable prospect of real peace and reconciliation or is this thousand-year conflict likely to grind on forever?
Tellingly, the difference of American policy is not in the logic applied to these relationships, the difference is in the posture of Donald Trump, a posture that is repeated on these threads, usually word for word. Sadly, too many of us have forgotten we are conservatives only to become cultists.
The point of this is not to advocate abandoning Israel, b/c you wont meet Jesus if you do.
The plea is to shuck this litmus test based on personality and return to sound conservative principles.
Mark Warner needs to resign. He has passed on classified information on more than a few occasions.
I am insulted by you Markie
So why srrn’t journalist and his editor and magazine being charged for publishing the transcript?
And for remaining in a chat he was not cleared to attend?
No one in the chat leaked or compromised any of the discussion….except Goldberg.
What authority classified or declassified this verbal exchange?
Were participants warned of the classification?
.
Charge Goldberg.
And charge Warner for sharing Senate intel information to a Russian go-between to try to reach a Russian oligarch to get him to help set up the dossier vs Trump. In a very awkward email exchange
Is that entire post a Massie quote?
“It’s all they have”—
You read my mind! Was just getting ready to post that exact same statement!
This traitorous asshole happens to be correct.
This will undermine Trump over the long term.
A really bad look backed up by bad.
I have no issue with the Democrats going after the Trump admin based on facts. My issue here is that they are lying (or proving themselves to be pathetically incompetent & ignorant).
If Warner thinks that Signal messages are classified then answer this question, Senator Warner. When was the Signal app approved for usage on the SiprNet or TiprNet?
The answer is Never. It’s not approved for classified communications.
Should this thread have been made classified? Well sorta.
One of the participants could have said on the thread - “please see [name of DOD contact] for any questions about details regarding next steps at the DOD; and touch base with [name of WH contact] for any questions on all other Executive branch coordinations; this thread is just focused on making sure the right people are talking with each other & carrying out the President’s objectives & no discussions of anything that should be classified”.
But what I wrote above is assumed. What wasn’t listed were the specific locations of Houthi targets, specific times, and specific means/sources of units carrying out any missions. If this thread would have leaked to the Houthis then yes it could have caused some better preparedness from them. And in that case it might have just been a purposeful leak to get them spooked & maybe that was the intent of adding this Atlantic so-called journalist? Already the Houthis have got to know that they were a target & that it was just a matter of time before someone would try bombing them due to their bombing of others. What they didn’t know is what info the US intel had on what targets are most valuable or any info on who, where, and when someone was coming after them.
I do think that Trump’s team needs to be much more careful. What they now should do is setup some counterintel program where fake accounts are created for the principal leaders & put it up on somewhere that they can make “open” for China/Russia/others to find & then be ready to have this counterintel program staff use it to throw such entities off. It would be like Patton/Fortitude/Callais for D-Day in how they fooled Hitler and thus made the Normandy landings less difficult than they could have been if Hitler had allowed Rommel/others to throw everything into Normandy preparations/counterattacks.
Keeps “Auto-pengate” out of the news.
Sorry, Senator, this has blown over. You can stop your hypocritical tub thumping on how you’re so concerned about national security secrets. Better luck ginning up a fake scandal next time
I think the most significant revelation of this is using signal to destroy messages after 7 or 28 days, rather than using government communication networks which have public records act requirements.
And honestly, I’m really starting to wonder just how much of government is using third party communication for communication that should be covered by the public records act.
Hillary’s bathroom server also demonstrates this is far from a new trend. The continued and repeated declarations that this doesn’t matter makes me wonder why we don’t want Signal’s servers to be examined to see just how much it was used during the Biden administration as well...
Government employees have methods of secure communication. We do this for security, we do this for accountability, and quite honestly, anyone who doesn’t want both of those is taking a very rocky stance in my opinion.
no
New Flash, Dems. That dog don’t hunt. The messed up and admitted it. But it’s not ‘worse than Watergate’!
