Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen (R) is warning against a ballot initiative that would give voters the option to enshrine the supposed “right” to abortion in the state Constitution. A coalition of left-wing groups called Protect Our Rights officially launched its effort this week and must collect roughly 125,000 valid signatures by summer 2024 for the amendment to appear on the ballot next year. The proposed amendment would declare a fundamental “right” to abortion until “fetal viability” — which is generally considered to be between 22 and 24 weeks gestation — or to protect the life or health of the pregnant...

The Democrats running Reclaim Idaho and their supporters are pushing a voter initiative which they are deceptively calling the “Open Primary Initiative” and falsely claiming that “Leaders are handpicked by political party committees” and that somehow Idahoans do not have the freedom to vote in all elections. These ridiculous claims are easily disproven with a tiny bit of rational thinking. Initiatives allow the citizens to pass laws directly without going through the legislative process. It starts with submitting the proposed initiative language to the SOS for review. Then the proponents must gather signatures from 6% of the voters in at...

Living a successful life take personal initiative and courage and sacrifice. My biggest beef with Republicans over the years was how gutless so many of them were. Trump was such a breath of fresh air, a fighter. He did inspire some to get a backbone. I read these citations often and thought it would be very fitting to share the link today on Memorial Day. Very inspirational and a reminder of what traits can make one a "hero" in daily life. That is all. At ease.

A group that got Medicaid expansion on the Idaho ballot last year says it has started another initiative to raise money for public schools by increasing taxes on corporations and the wealthy. Reclaim Idaho on Wednesday announced the initiative proposal to raise taxes by 3% on individuals making more than $250,000 or married couples making more than $500,000. The plan would also raise corporate tax rates from 7.4% to 8%, the same as from 1987 to 2000. Reclaim Idaho says that will raise $170 million for K-12 public schools while reducing the need for school levies through property tax overrides....

“A public debate on the merits of a measure can reveal its flaws,†the Bismarck Tribune calmly and reasonably editorialized recently, adding, “and then we have to trust voters to do the right thing.â€â€œWhy are some legislators so afraid to allow North Dakota voters to decide what is in their constitution?†asked an earlier editorial in the Fargo Forum. Legislation to make citizen petitions far more difficult abounds in North Dakota, this being the winter of legislators’ discontent, because the mighty solons did not like an ethics measure that voters nevertheless passed in a close contest last fall. Personally, I would have...

Once again, the oh-so progressive, oh-so enlightened Seattle City Council is showing the rest of the country what not to do. The idealistic leftists who control the Council are wasting millions of hard-earned taxpayer dollars in failed attempts to solve problems the Council members created. All this is turning Seattle into the poster city for the failure of Big Government. The city best known for fish markets, coffee stores, rain and flannel-wearing musicians is now becoming legendary for its incompetent leadership and its financial boondoggles. The latest example of Seattle senselessness is the Council’s costly and deeply flawed efforts to...

This is a very long and detailed article. The tentacles reach all the way to Libya, as the Clinton Global Initiative is involved. Parts are difficult to believe, but they are all true. You will see many familiar names and some that are not so familiar; nevertheless, they are rising players in this world. A recent arrest was made of someone I had never heard of, and as I watched an interview he had given to a young woman, I failed to sense the evil that has been unveiled to me. That protective quality is one of a charismatic and...
