Sarah Palin hits the right notes in New Delhi while discussing the common values that tie the U.S. with India. She may not be able to see India from her house, but Sarah Palin did a fine job bolstering her foreign-policy credentials in a speech in New Delhi this month. She hit the right notes discussing the common democratic values and the similar geopolitical outlook that tie the U.S. with India. And she hailed New Delhi economic reforms that were launched 20 years ago and have deepened the bond. "The relationship between our countries could shape the course of the next...
  • Palin's speech in India solid and under the radar in DC

While the media was focused on the ongoing civil war in Libya, they let one of their favorite targets slip under the radar. Sarah Palin on Sunday gave a much-anticipated speech in India, fueling more Presidency speculation here in DC. Unlike most of Palin’s speeches, which are filled with slogans and clichés, this one had far more substance. She used her speech mainly to illustrate the deep ties the United States and India share and to outline a vision of America that encourages entrepreneurship, free markets and limited government. Throughout her speech, she cited examples of how her belief in...

I read the speech first to get my own reaction to it. The entire speech was transcribed by India Today, perhaps a little too enthusiastically, as practically every other sentence gets an exclamation point towards the end. The common theme from my perspective was energy, and not just on energy policy, although Palin had plenty to say about that: I’m in favour of “all-of-the-above” approach to energy security. But “all-of-the-above” means including “conventional” resources! That means, the kind we actually use to reliably fuel our economy. That means crude oil, for example. And our natural gas, our coal, nuclear power....

Sarah Palin left India on Sunday and word on the street is that she is “very smart” and “I’d go to see her speak anywhere” or…”she is very dumb” and “no one cares about Sarah Palin,” according to the Youtube page of India Reloaded, here, interviewing the locals as Palin lives Asia’s biggest democracy. Palin praised India for its progress and called for stronger US and India ties. She was the Saturday evening dinner keynote speaker at the India Today Conclave , a gathering of political and business leaders that took place in New Delhi Friday and Saturday. During her...

Palin: I could have brought change in '08By Jordan Fabian - 03/19/11 12:52 PM ET Republicans would have been more successful in the 2008 presidential elections if she was at the top of the ticket, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin suggested Saturday. Speaking at the India Today Conclave in New Delhi, Palin was asked why the GOP ticket did not defeat then-Sen. Barack Obama (D). Palin said that Obama ran a strong campaign and effectively billed himself as a change candidate. Pressed by India Today editor Aroon Purie that she also represented change, Palin replied, "I wasn't at the top...

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin suggested Republicans would have fared better in 2008 had she, not John McCain, been the messenger of change for the GOP. “I wasn’t at the top of the ticket, remember?” Speaking at the India Today Conclave in New Delhi, Palin was asked why Republicans were unable to defeat Barack Obama in 2008. Palin told Aroon Purie, editor of India Today that Obama was able to cast himself as the change candidate, and that things might have gone differently had she been the GOP’s presidential candidate. Palin did not suggest that she should have been the...

"Sarah Palin held her own very well,” said Sachin Pilot, India’s deputy minister for communications and information technology. “She came out as an independent thinker. She answered all complicated questions reasonably well,”“Anybody who is looking to perform a major role in American politics today does need to engage with India.”

Palin says India-US ties are key to world’s future, warns of China’s rise in New Delhi speech By Associated Press, Saturday, March 19, 6:46 PM NEW DELHI — U.S. politician Sarah Palin stressed the importance of America’s ties with India, saying they were based on the shared values of freedom and free-market capitalism, while sounding a warning note on China’s rise during a speech Saturday in New Delhi. The visit to India is a rare foreign venture for the ex-Alaska governor and reality TV star, who was John McCain’s running mate in his failed 2008 campaign for president. The trip,...

Accuracy doesn’t seem to be the media’s strong suite these days. It makes you wonder if these “journalists” are incompetent, lazy, or worse; pushing an agenda. We can only speculate the reasons, but the fact is undeniable. Take for instance, the reporting by both the Wall Street Journal and the LA Times from Governor Palin’s speech and Q&A session at the India Today Conclave today. Both of them state that the governor said the following while giving an answer to a question: “Free people that make up a free country don’t wage war on another country.” That is a direct...

Big government ideas are once again being thrown into the ash heap of history – but they’re not going quietly.” The future lies with us. There are few limits to what India and America can do together. We both want to expand trade and investment with allies. It is our people who are driving this relationship. Our ties and our bonds are deep. They’re not driven by a free people and a free markets not by conclaves. We will lead because we are on the side of people to make decisions for themselves. We are on the side of religious...

Thank you! Such an honor! I appreciate getting to see some of your magnificent city - this is 1st time here & I sincerely hope it won't be my last! During my brief time here I've enjoyed India's famous "Gift for Hospitality." And next time, I want to visit the Taj Mahal with my husband, Todd. Considering how patiently he's endured during my political career & been so supportive, it would be nice to reinforce our teamwork/commitment before that monument to eternal love. Todd is here with us tonight. When I had the honour of meeting your Prime Minister a...

During her first foreign trip in 2011, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) slammed President Obama's green energy policy as a "social engineering" project that hurts the U.S. economy. Palin -- a potential 2012 presidential candidate -- said that she favors an "all of the above" energy plan that includes domestic oil drilling and nuclear power. Without mentioning it by name, she criticized the Obama administration for restricting domestic drilling and said that his green jobs agenda is fatally flawed. This push for green energy at the expense of conventional, reliable sources is not a credible energy policy," Palin said...

Sarah Palin is the first Republican leader to speak at the event in New Delhi. Sarah was invited to speak on her Vision for America. Today’s tea party is a strong and vibrant movement in the US. The former VP candidate is emphasizing energy challenges. “We all face energy challenges in the international arena.” ENERGY is the key. My vision for a free and prosperous America involves an emphasis on energy. On green energy– I am in favor of an “all of the above approach” to energy. Unfortunately, though some have stymied responsible drilling. It means we continue to transfer...

The New York Sun carries a piece sure to stir up the Palin haters and embolden the Palin lovers: The call by the Arab League for Western military intervention in an Arab state -- in this case asking that a UN "no-fly zone" be imposed over Libya - is not only without precedent but it puts in formal terms what Governor Palin stated three weeks ago should have been America's response to the political and humanitarian crisis now unfolding there. The former GOP vice presidential candidate was being interviewed on February 23rd on national television by Sean Hannity on a...

The jokes are already flying as Sarah Palin prepares to embark on a trip to India later this month, and more are surely to come. Will she rock a sari? Perhaps guest star in a Bollywood movie? Or bathe in the Ganges for a photo op? Palin has been invited to give the keynote address, "My Vision of America," at the two-day India Today conclave in New Delhi, an event hosted annually by the magazine since 2002. The March 18-19 event is sponsored by global business heavyweight Aditya Birla Group, a billion-dollar metals company, along with a bevy of industry...
