Detectives with the Indian River County Sheriff's Office said they were alerted in mid-August about an inmate attempting to smuggle narcotics into their jail facility. 26-year-old inmate Alexander McKay and his girlfriend, Christine Ammon had planned on bringing drug-infused paper into the facility disguised as mail. INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, Fla. — An Indian River County man on trial in connection with a deadly 2017 SWAT raid in Gifford was found not guilty of five of the six charges Friday. Andrew Coffee IV was charged with second-degree murder of his 21-year-old girlfriend and three counts of attempted murder of law enforcement after the raid led to an exchange of gunfire. He was also acquitted of shooting or throwing a deadly missile. Sebastian Police responded to a Walmart parking lot Tuesday at 7:46 a.m. after reports of a possibly deceased woman in a vehicle. A dramatic new video has been released of a Florida man who led police on a wild high-speed chase in Indian River County right before he threw his infant baby at a deputy. A Florida man who was arrested last October now faces 90 days in jail after pleading no contest to battery charges from when he spat on another Florida man who was wearing a pro-Trump MAGA hat.
