The decision to take the Israeli space agency under the Air Force's wing was approved over a month ago by exiting Air Force head General Dan Halutz. The name change coincides with the first anniversary of Israeli Astronaut and former Air Force pilot Colonel Ilan Ramon's ill fated Columbia space shuttle mission.
