Jon Huntsman has been on a quest to reach out to Republican voters who would prefer to see a moderate candidate run against President Obama as opposed to an ideologically pure one with little chance of winning a general election, but he was put on the hot seat about this very issue on Meet the Press today, when David Gregory brought up Huntsman’s glowing speech about 2008 vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin at the Republican National Convention three years ago. In the speech, Huntsman declared to the audience, “We are looking for Sarah!” and praised her for having an “independent...

Huntsman to Cain: Address Allegations 'In Total" WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican presidential contender Jon Huntsman is calling on rival Herman Cain to disclose all information about the allegations of sexual harassment that have consumed the GOP race. Huntsman tells NBC's "Meet the Press" that the information needs to come out "in total" because legitimate questions have been raised and the controversy has distracted from real issues on the campaign trail.

President Barack Obama's health care law created a $5 billion fund to shore up coverage for early retirees, and some of that money is flowing to places you might not expect. Two Texas public employee programs are among the top 25 recipients of the federal subsidy despite Texas Gov. Rick Perry's opposition to the law Republicans derisively call "Obamacare." (snip) But that still works out to more than 400,000 companies. Add state and local government agencies, as well as union plans, and the number swells. Indeed, the Obama administration's subsidy program got so many applications it stopped accepting new ones...

Are you a Republican looking for a more viable alternative to Mitt Romney? Has the cratering of Rick Perry left you feeling hopeless? Do the scandals afflicting Herman Cain make you think he isn't all that electable? Well, there is still a very electable conservative in the race! Surprise it is Jon Huntsman! He has been branded a moderate by the press and by people in his campaign. But take a look at his record and see if it doesn't warm your heart.

When asked on the Colbert Report to speak Chinese, Huntsman spoke one sentence and then “translated” his words as “I just said you ought to consider being my running mate for vice president.” The studio audience roared in approval. Yet in reality, Huntsman’s mangled Chinese would translate as: “I really want you to do my vice-America president.” In this brief and simple sentence, Huntsman managed to (incorrectly) insert the word America in the middle of the Chinese word for vice president (fu-zong-tong); made a less-than-ideal choice of verbs; and combined my and American vice president in a way that implies...

Jon Huntsman is ramping up his criticism of Mitt Romney as a flip-flopper with a new campaign ad. The video, called "Backflip," features a split-screen: On one side is Romney, making apparently contradictory statements — on issues like abortion and an Ohio bill curtailing union bargaining rights — and on the other a small wind-up toy monkey. "I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country," Romney says in a clip from his campaign for governor of Massachussetts. The video then cuts to Romney saying more recently he has "consistently been pro-life." The ad, released Friday, comes...

It just gets weirder and weirder. Here is video of a new Jon Huntsman ad that features his daughters spoofing Herman Cain’s recent bizarre “smoking ad” that featured his Chief of Staff smoking a cigarette. I kid you not! In this ad, Huntsman’s daughters wear fake mustaches as they mimic the content of Cain’s ad. But they close by blowing soap bubbles instead of smoking a cigarette. How this is supposed to make you want to vote for Jon Huntsman I’ll never know. . . .

Republican presidential candidate Jon Huntsman doesn’t color his salt-and-pepper hair, but admits his wife buys him plenty of hair products from the local Aveda Institute to keep everything in place. Huntsman, the former governor of Utah, discussed his grooming habits in an interview with Chris Moody of Yahoo! News. Asked what products he uses for his hair, Huntsman responded that his wife tells him what to do in this regard, explaining: “I wish I could tell you. She has these little squirt bottles.” Huntsman added: “But no dye. And not much in the way of artificiality.”

Former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu became the latest boldfaced name to endorse Romney, an announcement that came on the front page of the Sunday Union Leader. Sununu will join Romney on Monday when he files his paperwork with the secretary of state's office to become an official candidate in the New Hampshire primary. The former White House chief of staff, among the most prominent Republicans in the state, said in an interview that he'll "help in any way that they want," but that Romney is already well-positioned to win the state. SNIP Another former governor — Jon Huntsman of...

Many of you have seen the new bumper stickers from various conservative groups that goes something like this: OBAMA = One Big A$$ Mistake, America! That definition has now been added to UrbanDictionary.com, and with your help, it can be "thumbed-up" to the top-ranking position. Left-wingers succeeded in labeling Bush as a "failure." But we can turn the tables and get America to realize that Obama really is one big mistake! Click here to give this new definition the "thumbs-up." Thanks!

The idea that big banks damage the broader economy has considerable resonance on the intellectual right. The mainstream political right, however, has been reluctant to take on the issue. This changed on Wednesday, with a very clear statement by Jon Huntsman in The Wall Street Journal:"Hedge funds and private equity funds go out of business all the time when they make big mistakes, to the notice of few, because they are not too big to fail. There is no reason why banks cannot live with the same reality."Mr. Huntsman's position is in alignment with the strongest possible technical thinking, but...

Former Utah governor Jon Huntsman's presidential campaign is nearly broke - but the campaign is vowing that it will have the resources to continue until the primaries. The campaign said Friday it has just $327,000 on hand and $890,000 in debt. It listed its total receipts - including a $2.25 million donation from Huntsman himself - at $4.51 million, and its total dispersments at $4.18 million. Huntsman campaign manager Tim Miller said Huntsman will have the money he needs to stay in the race until the New Hampshire primary, which will likely take place in early January. "Governor Huntsman has...

Jon Huntsman, who has been mired far back in the field vying for the Republican presidential nomination, will boycott Tuesday's debate among the party's candidates to be held in Nevada, and instead hold a town hall meeting in New Hampshire. Huntsman will skip the Nevada debate to stick up for New Hampshire, his campaign manager, Matt David, said on Friday. The two states are among several jockeying to be first or second to hold primary elections and caucus meetings that will determine the Republican candidate to take on Democratic President Barack Obama in the November 2012 election. Huntsman, a moderate,...

Using techniques perfected by the pseudo-intellectuals of the Left and described in Alynsky's "Rules For Radicals", both Huntsman and Bachman displayed why they are unworthy to carry the standard of the GOP. Having little of substance to offer, both Huntsman and Bachmann used juvenile techniques from the schoolyard to isolate and ridicule the taxation plan of Herman Cain. There are few Americans who don't consider our tax laws to be unwieldy to the point of being unusable. With kleptocrats like Charlie Rangel continuously writing tax laws to benefit those who own him, our taxes have become a national disgrace and...

Former Mormon Tricia Erickson agrees with Baptist minister Robert Jeffress' recent comments that Mormonism is a cult, and said she believes the American people do not know what they are in for if they elect Republican presidential nominee and Mormon Mitt Romney into White House. "Because the wisdom, judgment and discernment of our president may be crucial to our survival, would it not be prudent to examine his fundamental foundation and beliefs?" asked Erickson in a commentary written for Christiannewstoday.com. "And if his beliefs are distorted, why would it not be critical to our existence to protect our country from...

Karl Rove has criticized Texas Gov. Rick Perry for not strongly denouncing evangelical Baptist minister Robert Jefress after the Texas pastor described former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney's religion as a "cult," during last Friday's Values Voter Summit. Appearing on Fox News on Oct. 10, Rove, a political adviser to former President George W. Bush, said Jeffress' statement was "a terrible mistake" that "doesn't belong in politics," and said that Perry needed to be stronger in his disagreement with Jeffress. "I wish Perry was a little bit stronger in denouncing this," Rove said. Rove's statement followed conservative TV host, and former...
