FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) — Officials temporarily closed a large shopping mall near St. Louis amid a protest triggered by a grand jury's decision not to indict the police officer who fatally shot Michael Brown in nearby Ferguson. Several stores lowered their security doors or locked entrances as protests sprawled onto the floor while chanting, "Stop shopping and join the movement."

Full Title: Ferguson Protest Group Releases List of Targets, Including: Anheuser Busch, Boeing, Emerson Electric, Airport The Justice for Mike Brown Ferguson protest group released its list of potential targets following the decision by the St. Louis County Courthouse on the Mike Brown case. The published map shows expected landmarks like the Ferguson City Hall and the County Courthouse. But it also marks things that have NOTHING to do with the Michael Brown situation, like Anheuser Busch and Boeing. Most telling thing is the mark for Emerson Electric. Emerson has been in Ferguson for at least 50 years, long before...

FERGUSON, Mo. — Walk down West Florissant Avenue, and the scars of the summer are still there. The door and display window of a beauty supply store remain covered with plywood; a glued-up poster, “Beauty Town Is Back,” is the one hopeful sign of the life inside. A cellphone store, too, still has the plywood up from when riots and confrontations with the police shook this neighborhood. And the Family of Faith Baptist Church uses its billboard to proclaim, “Join us as we pray for peace.” “I hate this,” said Dan McMullen, the president of Solo Insurance Services, as he...

Message: Police priority should be facilitation of protest, not preserving law and order.CNN is reporting that the #Ferguson protestors have delivered to police a list of 18 “Rules of Engagement.” These essentially amount to a set of constraints on police response to the violence expected to result when the grand jury declines to indict Police Officer Darren Wilson for his self-defense shooting of Mike Brown, the 290-pound black adult male who, in what seems like an all too common moment of poor judgment, attacked and tried to kill the police officer. I’ve embedded the list, as linked on the CNN...

FULL TITLE: Enraged protesters in Ferguson take to the AGAIN streets and vandalize beauty supply store after fire destroys makeshift Michael Brown memorial Tensions were running high on the streets of Ferguson, Missouri, Tuesday night after an early morning fire destroyed a makeshift memorial honoring the black teenager killed last month by a white police officer. The memorial for 18-year-old Michael Brown that caught fire was erected in a grassy area alongside the road where Brown died. A larger memorial, which runs down the center lane of the road, was untouched by the conflagration. Still, neighborhood residents who have been...

WASHINGTON — A high-powered rifle lost in the ATF’s Fast and Furious controversy was used to kill a Mexican police chief in the state of Jalisco earlier this year, according to internal Department of Justice records, suggesting that weapons from the failed gun-tracking operation have now made it into the hands of violent drug cartels deep inside Mexico. Luis Lucio Rosales Astorga, the police chief in the city of Hostotipaquillo, was shot to death Jan. 29 when gunmen intercepted his patrol car and opened fire. Also killed was one of his bodyguards. His wife and a second bodyguard were wounded....

At a town hall meeting on his campaign-style tour of the Midwest, President Obama claimed that his economic program "reversed the recession" until recovery was frustrated by events overseas. And then, Obama said, with the economy in an increasingly precarious position, the recovery suffered another blow when Republicans pressed the White House for federal spending cuts in exchange for an increase in the national debt limit, resulting in a deal Obama called a "debacle." "We had reversed the recession, avoided a depression, gotten the economy moving again," Obama told a crowd in Decorah, Iowa. "But over the last six months...

Omar Thornton called 911 after shooting 10 co-workers - eight fatally - on Tuesday morning at Hartford Distributors Inc. He introduced himself as "the shooter over in Manchester" and said he was hiding in the building, but he would not say where.

A week or so ago I sold a bunch of rifles and pistols in my local Missouri paper. Included in the list of rifles was an SKS which was in nice condition ….of which I still have a pretty big pile of ammo in the closet. (7.62x39) My intention was to sell all these guns and buy a Ruger Mini 30. Now, I have read a lot of the internet chatter bad talking the Mini 14’s and Mini 30’s – and I also know that Ruger in recent years has tightened the specs of these rifles – and I am...
