Ordinary people didn’t have AR-15s before 2004. They’re not some time-honored American tradition, they’re a recent mistake that we could fix and save thousands of lives in the process.

Former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson appeared Thursday on CNN’s Democracy in Peril, where she spoke about the current condition of her former network. Carlson first spoke about the power FNC opinion host Tucker Carlson seems to have over Republicans in Congress, some of whom have followed his lead and sided with authoritarian Russia in the growing conflict with Ukraine. “This is the result of fake news,” Carlson said. “You know, we're seeing not only the fallout from fake news during the Trump era, but what happened with the insurrection on Jan. 6. Now it's moving into other areas. Not...

Guest co-host Gretchen Carlson said Tuesday on ABC’s “The View” that if former President Donald Trump promoted the COVID vaccine to his supporters, the pandemic would be over by now. Carlson said, “The problem with this vaccine, as we all know, is that it’s been politicized. People didn’t necessarily politicize the Polio vaccine, or at least today they don’t.”

Every woman cringed at having been talked down to before in their lives. https://t.co/hUqMyG86vl— Gretchen Carlson (@GretchenCarlson) March 14, 2020 ------------- Every woman understands Kelly O’Donnell’s facial expression when Donald Trump says, “Just take it nice and easy. Just relax.” God grant me the confidence of an inept man who takes time out of failing miserably to reprimand a woman doing her job well. pic.twitter.com/2QXh1uNOpZ— Shannon Watts (@shannonrwatts) March 14, 2020

SPOILER ALERT: I saw “Bombshell” this morning at 9:00am at the Hoffman 22 in Alexandria, Virginia. No more than 20 people in the theater. “Star Wars” was being shown in six of its theatres, so you could hear laser beams sound and the Star Wars theme every five minutes or so, which was annoying. I had a tub of popcorn and soda at 8:30am. No wonder I can't lose any friggin' weight! Let me start by saying that Charlize Theron was amazing as Megyn Kelly and John Lithgow was also excellent as Roger Ailes. Nicole Kidman was ‘ok’ as Gretchen...

When Gretchen Carlson heard that NBC News was considering letting people out of their non-disclosure agreements involving alleged sexual misconduct at the network, she couldn’t help but think of the NDA she signed with Fox News before her departure three years ago. “It would be nice to be able to be able to tell my full story,” Carlson said. She’s hoping one day she can. The newswoman says she’s asked to be let out of her NDA and talked to other Fox News employees who left with similar settlements about pressing the network to be let out of the agreements....

Cara Mund, whose reign as Miss America comes to a close next month, accused the pageant’s parent organization of systematically silencing her in a letter made public Friday. It was the latest setback for the organization, which has struggled to reinvent itself after a string of scandals. In a missive that ran over 3,000 words long, Ms. Mund said that the pageant’s leadership had “reduced me, marginalized me, and essentially erased me in my role as Miss America in subtle and not-so-subtle ways on a daily basis.” She went on to say that members of the organization had prevented her...

Nearly half of Miss America’s board has quit or been forced to resign in the wake of the organization’s decision to eliminate the swimsuit competition from the contest, and 22 state pageant leaders are seeking to oust Chairwoman Gretchen Carlson over concerns about the pageant’s new direction. Ms. Carlson, a former Miss America and an early leader in the #MeToo movement, announced on June 5 that Miss America was dropping the swimsuit and evening-gown competitions and replacing them with an extended onstage interview. She said it was important to make women’s voices heard during a “cultural revolution in our country.”...

Miss America is scrapping its swimsuit competition and will no longer judge contestants based on physical appearance, the organization announced Tuesday. "We are no longer a pageant," Gretchen Carlson, the first former Miss America to be named chair of the Board of Trustees of the Miss America Organization, said on "GMA." "We are a competition." In place of the swimsuit portion of the competition, Miss America contestants will now take part in a live interactive session with the judges, according to the organization. The contestants from all 50 states and the District of Columbia will be asked to demonstrate their...

Former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson secretly recorded inappropriate statements made by former Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes, New York Magazine reported Friday. Carlson recorded conversations with Ailes for at least a year and captured "numerous incidents" of harassment on her phone, the report said. "I think you and I should have had a sexual relationship a long time ago, and then you'd be good and better and I'd be good and better," one recording of Ailes speaking to Carlson reportedly says. "Sometimes problems are easier to solve that way," Ailes, 76, allegedly also told Carlson, 50, at...

The Plot Against Roger Ailes [...] Ailes has been out of politics for more than a quarter-century now, but it’s fair to say that his basic sensibility is visible on the Fox screen. Critics say that Fox News leans right, but the truth is, it’s more centrist — it just looks right-wing in comparison to the other news outlets. But Fox, as a lonely fair-and-balanced bastion, is still an obstacle to Democratic victory plans in 2016. And that’s the real story of the Gretchen Carlson lawsuit against Ailes, which I wrote about here at BNN on July 8. I said then,...

Former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson has filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Roger Ailes, alleging that the network’s chairman and chief executive fired her after she refused to sleep with him. According to the suit filed Wednesday in New Jersey Superior Court, Carlson alleges that she was terminated by Ailes on June 23 after she complained about a toxic workplace environment and “rebuffed his sexual advances.”

....On Wednesday morning, former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson filed a bombshell sexual harassment lawsuit against Fox News chairman and CEO Roger Ailes, alleging that he demoted her, reduced her pay and ultimately fired her in retaliation for turning down his sexual advances and complaining about sexual harassment in the workplace. In the eight-page civil complaint, filed in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Carlson’s attorneys detail the treatment she claims to have been subjected to during the course of her employment with Fox News, which spanned from 2005 to June of 2016. Here are some of the claims made...

Roger Ailes Fires Back at Gretchen Carlson's "Defamatory" Lawsuit as Fox Launches Internal InvestigationFull title The Fox News chairman issued this statement in response to the lawsuit Wednesday afternoon: "Gretchen Carlson's allegations are false. This is a retaliatory suit for the network's decision not to renew her contract, which was due to the fact that her disappointingly low ratings were dragging down the afternoon lineup. When Fox News did not commence any negotiations to renew her contract, Ms. Carlson became aware that her career with the network was likely over and conveniently began to pursue a lawsuit. Ironically, FOX News...
