Cara Mund, whose reign as Miss America comes to a close next month, accused the pageant’s parent organization of systematically silencing her in a letter made public Friday. It was the latest setback for the organization, which has struggled to reinvent itself after a string of scandals.
In a missive that ran over 3,000 words long, Ms. Mund said that the pageant’s leadership had “reduced me, marginalized me, and essentially erased me in my role as Miss America in subtle and not-so-subtle ways on a daily basis.”
She went on to say that members of the organization had prevented her from posting in her official capacity on social media and had criticized her appearance on multiple occasions. She added that she had researched New Jersey state laws and that the mistreatment amounted to “workplace bullying.”
She said that she had been condescended to in a manner that suggested “I don’t understand this ‘big girl job’ or how and why Miss America is relevant,” and that she had often been reminded that she was dispensable.
“My contract still says — and I am regularly reminded by word and action — that I can be fired anytime, with or without cause,” she wrote. In particular, Ms. Mund’s letter singled out the organization’s chief executive, Regina Hopper, for disparaging her. It also took issue with Gretchen Carlson, the chair of the organization’s board of directors, who Ms. Mund said had supplanted her as the organization’s ambassador. Ms. Carlson, who was Miss America 1989 but is most famous for her tenure at and departure from Fox News, has appeared in the news on behalf of the Miss America Organization since she took the position as its chair in January.

Miss America, like football, will probably continue to exist as a shell of itself. One can only imagine the appearance of future “winners”.
Gretchen Carlson aided in the downfall of Roger Ailes. Now she’s leading in the end of Miss America.
Miss America org needs to retire the crown. It’s sooo last century.
No swim suit contest - no Miss America
Face it. Gretchen Carlson lost it when she was dumped at Fox. Her ratings were bad. She did not have the skills, temperament or frankly the appearance that appealed to viewers. Now she is on a mission against society. She has turned the “Miss America Pageant” into what can be construed as an admissions interview to some progressive, elitist, haughty college. Beauty has little to do with it and those who have an appealing appearance will be condemned for exercising “privilege” Viewers will stay away and ultimately the pageant and Gretchen will collapse.
Formally end the Miss America debacle.

These type whiners who get one-in-a-million opportunities tell it all about how out of control the elite is. Same category as The Kneelers and the bogus "me too"ers (some are legit) who went down for a movie role or other freebie and now they're victims.
