— Political ads, mailers, volunteers knocking on every door and daily news coverage. If you couldn’t tell, the presidential election is only a few months away and every candidate is jockeying for your vote. But, how would you feel if your vote didn’t even count? Philadelphia officials have released a report detailing that somewhere between 200 and 1,000 voting irregularities were uncovered in fewer than 1 percent of Philadelphia’s voting precincts during the 2012 primary. These voting “irregularities” included noncitizens voting, nonregistered citizens voting, machines registering more votes for a candidate than registered voters at that polling place, and even...

Many are interested in his views on family values and issues as he will play a huge part in Election 2012. “In the December 1, 2010 RNC candidate forum, Priebus provided a few details about his politics. He said he believes the RNC is "part of" the Tea Party movement. He believes in the Christian God. He stated that if he were elected as RNC chair it would be through God's blessing; believes it is the Republican Party's mission to "save our country, to save our party, and to take back the White House.” He believes someone who is "pro-abortion,...

WASHINGTON – The Republican Party's national chairman says he's had no thoughts of resigning despite criticism of his first-year performance and controversy about his recent book that takes shots at the GOP. Michael Steele is apologizing for not alerting Republicans in advance about the book's release. In the book, he accuses GOP leaders of abandoning conservative principles over the past decade. Steele also is defending his record as party chairman, saying he's "pushing the ball" for the GOP and helping the party win elections and raise money.

If a rap star from a group called "Public Enemy" can't explain the body politic, who can? Steele does make some good points about how the GOP represents values around self-reliance, though.

Michael Steele, the new chairman of the Republican National Committee wants the GOP to reach out to candidates who support gay marriage and are pro-choice. Steele told Fox's Chris Wallace that it was "important" to reach out to those voters. WALLACE: You are one of the co-founders of something called the Republican Leadership Council which supports candidates who favor abortion and gay rights. STEELE: Yes. (watch video) WALLACE: Does the GOP needs to do a better job of reaching out to people who hold those views? STEELE: I think -- I think that's an important opportunity for us, absolutely. Within...

Virtual Campaign Manager: You are GOP Chairman Rob Gleason. You have just heaped praise on Democratic Congressman Jack Murtha, at the expense of his opponent Diane Irey. Should you step down as chairman? Gleason: "I cannot deny that Murtha has done a wonderful job for our region. He’s brought home the bacon. If that’s how you want to judge a congressman or any elected official, he gets five stars."

WASHINGTON - The head of the Republican Party says GOP lawmakers who are guilty of wrongdoing in Washington scandals should expect to be punished whatever their political affiliation. “The public trust is more important than party,” said Ken Mehlman, the Republican National Committee chairman. “Which is why the first solution to the problem is rooting out those who have done wrong, without regard to party or ideology.” Mehlman’s comments were in a speech that he planned to deliver Friday to the annual winter meeting of the Republican National Committee. The Associated Press obtained a copy of the speech. “As Republican...

T.S. Eliot once wrote that politics is too important to be left only to politicians. Last year, 1.4 million Americans from all 50 states resoundingly agreed and volunteered their time on behalf of President Bush's re-election campaign. Voters were evenly divided going into the election, but mobilizing an unprecedented number of volunteers enabled Mr. Bush to receive more popular votes than any candidate in American history. Democrats exceeded even their own expectations in spending more than $100 million more than Republicans, but were swamped by the millions of Americans who contacted their friends, neighbors, relatives and colleagues and explained what...

Longtime Orange County Republican Party boss Tom Fuentes is fending off a growing cry for his resignation, with even some once-staunch defenders now saying he has alienated too many key Republicans and is no longer an effective leader.

New GOP Chairman Defends Bush, Accuses Democrats of Feeding 'Steady Diet of Protest and Pessimism' Rising to President Bush's defense, the new GOP chairman says Democrats are offering Americans "a steady stream of protest and pessimism" in absence of real solutions to the economy and Iraq. "If you get the impression, the other party has come to the conclusion that what's worst for the American people is what's best for them, it's only because that's their explicit strategy," Ed Gillespie said in his address to the 165-member Republican National Committee.
