Kevin Berling took his former employee to court after claiming to suffer a panic attack and arguing that his stress caused him to lose his job, WLKY-TV reported. Jurors in Kenton County Circuit Court agreed this week and awarded Berling $450,000, the television station reported. Clay Aiken is in line to be named to the President's Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities, the White House said Wednesday. Aiken, a Raleigh native who gained fame as a runner-up on "American Idol," once worked as a YMCA counselor. The committee's Web site said it advises the president on issues pertaining to people with intellectual disabilities. Rising worker’s compensation and health care cost is prompting San Mateo County Sheriff Don Horsley to put a ban on hiring smokers. “If your lifestyle contributes to a disability, I’m sorry about that. But I don’t think the taxpayers should pay.” said Horsley.
