Why even cite the Bible, as if it carried some kind of divine authority, while making yourself the arbiter of ultimate truth? Why quote Scripture if it can be trumped by the latest theories of psychology or sociology?

Helsinki, Finland, Mar 30, 2022 / 05:05 am (CNA). The verdict in the closely watched trial of a Finnish Christian MP was announced on Wednesday. A court in Helsinki dismissed all charges against Päivi Räsänen, a physician and mother of five, and Juhana Pohjola, a bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Mission Diocese of Finland. The court said in a unanimous ruling on March 30 that “it is not for the district court to interpret biblical concepts.” The court said in a unanimous ruling on March 30 that “it is not for the district court to interpret biblical concepts.” It ordered...

The foundational rupture in the tectonic plates of Western civilization is the breakage along the fault line of truth. The very concept of truth as we have known and inherited it is a Judeo-Christian concept. Germany became a post-Christian nation after its seminaries and universities rejected the Scriptures as God’s perfect, revealed truth. The United States has become a post-Christian nation after its best seminaries and universities—founded as teaching centers for the Word of God—rejected Scripture as God’s perfect, revealed truth. As American culture drifts further and further from anything Christian, the pressure to abandon the authority of the Bible...

We are going to go through this book in a very slow fashion - no hurry. This subject is completely a matter of faith. Those that reject or do not possess a particular preference for the King James Bible are welcome to visit and participate - but this is not an argument thread. I am not responsible to convince anyone against his or her will. Either you have faith in a God that is able to preserve His Word or you do not - but you are not going to convince us to reject our faith that the King James...

I was happy to see an ongoing Ping List belonging to Freeper WhatNot presented as a series called . . . Offsetting. These threads are discussions centering around God's Word as preserved in the King James Bible. The thought occurred to me that we might engage in a study/discussion of a book that is considered among Bible believers as the best studies on the King James Bible available. I'm new to the whole PING list thing but I think I can get it going if any might have an interest in this 'book club' approach. If this works - perhaps...

Researchers have discovered a new cave in Israel that they say once held Dead Sea Scrolls, making it just the 12th such cave of its kind found. The find is thus a milestone, according to the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The cave was looted long before the archeologists excavated it, but inside they found telltale signs that scrolls had been there: broken storage jars and lids on its edges and in a tunnel in the back.

In Genesis chapter 2 the order of creation seems to be different to that in chapter 1 with the animals being created (2:19) after Adam (2:7). Doesn't the Bible contradict itself here? Between the creation of Adam and the creation of Eve, the KJV/AV Bible says (Genesis 2:19) 'out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air'. On the surface, this seems to say that the land beasts and birds were created between Adam and Eve. However, Jewish scholars apparently did not recognize any such conflict with the account...

Presbyterian Church and Palestinian Liberal Christians Rewriting the Bible to Remove References to Israel By Julio Severo Sabeel (Palestinian Ecumenical Liberation Theology Center) has partnered with the Presbyterian Church (USA) to produce a new Bible version that changes God’s Word. The new version has no mention of Israel as Jewish and no mention of Jesus as a Jew. In fact, Jesus (Yeshua) is changed from being Jewish to being a Palestinian Arab, according to Geri Ungurean in NowTheEndBegins. Sabeel (Arabic ‘the way’ and also ‘a channel’ or ‘spring’) is a Christian liberation theology organization based in Jerusalem. It was founded...

Why Did God Kill Onan? Luther, Calvin, Wesley, C.S. Lewis, & Others on Contraception Genesis 38:9-10: “But Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so when he went in to his brother’s wife he spilled the semen on the ground, lest he should give offspring to his brother. 10 And what he did was displeasing in the sight of the Lord, and he slew him also.†It is an historical fact that no Christian communion sanctioned contraception until the Anglican Lambeth Conference in 1930. Protestant historian Roland Bainton states casually that the Church “very early forbade contraceptionâ€...

Is Confession Biblical? The Lord declares in Isaiah 43:25:I, I am He who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.Psalm 103:2-3 adds:Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases…Many will use these verses against the idea of confession to a priest. God forgiving sins, they will claim, precludes the possibility of there being a priest who forgives sins. Further, Hebrews 3:1 and 7:22-27 tell us Jesus is, “the… high priest of our confession” and that there are...

What do the Bible, "The Hunger Games" and "Fifty Shades of Grey" have in common? All three are works of fiction, according to the booksellers at Costco. Pastor Caleb Kaltenbach made that shocking discovery last Friday as he was shopping for a present for his wife at a Costco in Simi Valley, Calif. “All the Bibles were labeled as fiction,” the pastor told me. “It seemed bizarre to me.” Kaltenbach is the lead pastor at Discovery Church, a non-denominational Christian congregation in southern California. He thought there must be some sort of mistake so he scoured the shelf for other...

In Isaiah 55:11 God says his word shall not return to him void, but it shall accomplish that which he pleases and it shall prosper in the thing where unto he sent it. Well, the only way his word can return to him is if someone speaks it. God has invested power in your words and his words are the greatest power. In the Book of Proverbs the Bible says a lot about your words. In Proverbs 12:6 it says something interesting it says- "The mouth of the upright will deliver them." And Proverbs 12:18 says "The tongue of the...

When the troubles of life come don't put your focus on the problem put it on the word. The scripture says "While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal" (2Corinthians 4:18). Your problems are temporal(subject to change), but the word of God is eternal(everlasting). when you put your focus on the problem you loose sight of the power of God. Like Peter when Jesus told him to come to him out on the...

There may be times in your life when things don't appear to be as God said, but God's word is still the trut(John 17:17). What you have to understand is the difference between fact and truth. A fact is something that is known to be true. And truth is the actual state of affairs, reality or actuality. So God's word is the truth even when it doesn't appear to be. Let me give you an example, in 2Kings 6:12-17 if you read that account you had 2 men in the same situation. Elisha's servant only knew the fact, but Elisha...

The history of that human ignorance which calls itself "philosophy", is absolutely identical with the history of fools! If ones were to write the history of folly, he would have to give several chapters to philosophy, and those chapters would be more revealing than any others. Beware of the Babylonian books of the present day! The truth of God is the only treasure for which we seek, and the Scripture is the only field in which we dig for it! If you keep close to the inspired book, you can suffer no harm; you are at the fountain-head of all...
