Despite the never-ending drumbeat that the number of religious "nones" is on the rise and churches are emptying out, there is a curious trend involving Bibles that many religious and social pundits and prognosticators probably didn't see coming: Bible sales are spiking. The Bible has always been a bestseller, but according to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Bible sales in the United States saw an increase of 22 percent at the end of October.
The WSJ piece attributes the increase to worries about current events, including the recent election that had the entire country, left and right, chain-smoking and chewing their nails to the quick. And then there is the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the war between Israel and Hamas, and, of course, the economy.
And, as many PJ Media readers know, that is an extremely truncated list of things that have been keeping Americans up at night. Jeff Crosby, president of the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association, told the paper, “People are experiencing anxiety themselves, or they’re worried for their children and grandchildren. It’s related to artificial intelligence, election cycles…and all of that feeds a desire for assurance that we’re going to be OK.”

sales are up. is reading up?
Poorly written article. What is the baseline? What is the average yearly sales increase for each month. How does this compare to last year, the year before, Covid years, 2020, 2016, etc. Just shouting “Oh this is up 22%” tells me nothing.
Seeing some university baptisms where there are many students taking part this isn’t a surprise.
“The WSJ piece attributes the increase to worries about...”
makes little sense since the bible is available on the web for free.
sales means people spent money, even though the economy has been rough on most people. Something more than just worries going on.....
Those of us prasying for revival in America are still praying and request more prayer warrior enlistees.

🙏
Are you accusnig me of amassing five Bibles and having read maybe 1/4 of it??
Yeah I know, I have to get to the other 3/4.
Too often probably, Bibles are like exercise machiens in the house...bought with good intentions but...
Read a chapter every night before bed. I have been doing that for years. Soon it gets habit forming and enjoyable!
KJV
NASB
NIV
NAB Catholic version...
all worth reading. and re-reading.
Will start on my Geneva Bible soon.
Just sent my son a KJV in his care package to is AIT location in the Army. He’s a believer but he couldn’t take anything to boot camp then straight to AIT. His first request was to send him The Bible.
EXCELLENT!!!
✝️🙏🛐

When entering the USMC in 1982, we were issued a camo small pocket-sized Bible.
Have you checked out the Cepher Bibles?
It’s interesting, but it’s not my main go-to. That would still be the KJV, and has been for decades.
No wonder I couldn’t get NABs for my cathecism students! It was so weird — only or two available, delivery 2 weeks, prices up to full retail.
Go God!
Here’s hoping.
I have a many more than five. I give some away, but keep alot, too. I have a favorite translation, but want to compare.
You do need to install the Bible modules, Installing Books from Crosswire, The only ones I now use are the KJV (download), the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge, abbrv. TSK (download).
Download and install BP Bible, and the modules you want, at least the two I mentioned. Remember where you put them. Then launch BP Bible and go to File and then Install books and navigate to the modules and select them to install it. At some point it should ask you to index the Bible, and choose yes.
You should now have the Bible text at least. Now hit Display, and see options you can choose. Next, select some text, and hit Copy verses, and in the window the appears I choose Copy as formatted, and also Edit Template, and do so as in the image (Body: $text Range: $range), so that it renders it as
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:5-11)
