CLEVELAND (WJW) — The woman accused of stabbing a 3-year-old boy and his mother in a local Giant Eagle parking lot went before a judge to be arraigned Monday morning, but what is typically a quick court proceeding became a more lengthy process as the judge asked the defendant multiple times if she had received her indictment. At first, Bionca Ellis, 33, appeared for the hearing via video from the Cuyahoga County Jail. She sat silently with her head down. “Ms. Ellis, why don’t you want to answer these questions?” asked the judge.

Three retail pharmacy chains recklessly distributed vast amounts of pain pills in two Ohio counties, a federal jury said on Tuesday, in a verdict that could set the tone for US city and county governments that want to hold pharmacies accountable for their roles in the opioid crisis. Lake and Trumbull counties blamed pharmacies operated by CVS, Walgreens and Walmart for not stopping the flood of pills that caused hundreds of overdose deaths and cost each of the two counties about $1bn, their attorney said.

According to the FDA, there is a multi-state outbreak of Cyclospora infections potentially linked to salads containing those ingredients. Cyclospora is a microscopic parasite that can affect the intestinal tract and cause diarrhea. It is treated with antibiotics. As a result, Giant Eagle, Walmart and Aldi have issued recalls for several Fresh Express salad products. Customers should throw those products away immediately. The recalled products are clearly marked with the letter “Z” at the beginning of the Product Code, which is located on the upper right-hand corner of the front of the package. Those products containing iceberg lettuce, red cabbage...
