Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, tried to explain the Hanukkah story on Monday — and failed spectacularly. Emhoff, the first Jewish person in his position, who is helping to lead the White House antisemitism “strategy,” posted a now-deleted explanation that combined elements of several different stories, none of which connected to the other — or made any sense. He wrote: The story of Hanukkah and the story of the Jewish people has always been one of hope and resilience. In the Hanukkah story, the Jewish people were forced into hiding [sic]. No one though they...

The New York Times is facing blowback on social media after publishing an essay by an African-American reporter who accused white women of racism for not ceding space on city sidewalks to black men. In a Wednesday essay titled "Was That Racist," reporter Greg Howard singled out white women for forcing him "off the sidewalk completely" when walking towards him, not allowing a straight path. "In seven years of living and walking here, I’ve found that most people walk courteously — but that white women, at least when I’m in their path, do not," Howard writes.

March may have been Women’s History Month, but one conservative women’s organization used it to celebrate admirable young men. In an effort to combat modern feminism’s offensive habit of defining men by misogyny, The Network of Enlightened Women, NeW, launched a contest to recognize and appreciate gentlemanly behavior on college campuses in their 2014 Gentleman’s Showcase. The response was overwhelming. More than 2,000 votes were cast and NeW was “thrilled” with the contest results, Alyssa Condrey, Director of Programs, shared with Townhall: We were impressed by the quality of the nominees and by how many men were nominated from colleges...

Chivalry Now A review of The Compleat Gentleman: The Modern Man's Guide to Chivalry, by Brad Miner By Terrence O. Moore   Edmund Burke's famous pronouncement that "the age of chivalry is gone" was perhaps premature. Sure, ten thousand swords did not leap from the scabbards of the French nobility to defend Marie Antoinette, but such a betrayal did not mean that "the unbought grace of life, the cheap defence of nations, the nurse of manly sentiment and heroic enterprise" was forgotten in Britain, or America. More than two centuries later, the spirit of chivalry has not been entirely...

Bill Cosby Has More Harsh Words for Black Community By Don Babwin Associated Press Writer CHICAGO (AP) - Bill Cosby went off on another tirade against the black community Thursday, telling a room full of activists that black children are running around not knowing how to read or write and "going nowhere." He also had harsh words for struggling black men, telling them: "Stop beating up your women because you can't find a job." Cosby made headlines in May when he upbraided some poor blacks for their grammar and accused them of squandering opportunities the civil rights movement gave them....

My first vanity in over three years here. I just had to commend the great guys out there that really know how to treat a woman. I attended a wedding this past weekend and met what turned out to be an absolute gentleman in the way gentlemen are supposed to be. We talked and laughed and this man seemed to sense my needs even before I did. I wanted a cigarette and before I even had it out, he had a lighter at the ready to light it for me. He made sure I had everything I needed or wanted...

'Gay' men as the straight man's messiah? Posted: December 8, 2003 1:00 a.m. Eastern © 2003 WorldNetDaily.com My radio producer volunteered me as a subject for "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy." I doubt I'll go through with outing myself on national television as an unprocessed hillbilly, but I am intrigued by gay men having become the straight man's "messiah." "Queer Eye" is based on the premise that heterosexual men are today's coarse savages who need their chest and back hair (wait, isn't that a rug?) waxed. Bad-mannered brutes and barbarians with apartments that look like Beirut. Unlettered in stylishness,...

[Pages 197-204] In Democracies there is a besitting disposition to make publick opinion stronger than the law. This is the particular form in which tyranny exhibits itself in a popular government; for wherever there is power, there will be found a disposition to abuse it. Whoever opposes the interests, or wishes of the publick, however right in principle, or justifiable in circumstances, finds little sympathy; for, in a democracy, resisting the wishes of the many, is resisting the sovereign, in his caprices. Every good citizen is bound to separate this influence of his private feelings from his publick duties, and...
