The University of Florida administration is preparing for upcoming Halloween festivities by reminding students that the school’s “Bias Education and Response Team” is prepared to handle complaints about offensive costumes. Additionally, the school will provide 24/7 counseling services to anyone who is offended by a particular costume. An administration newsletter published on October 10 warns students “to think about your choices of costumes and themes . . .” because “[s]ome Halloween costumes reinforce stereotypes of particular races, genders, cultures, or religions.
