LOS ANGELES – Four people who allegedly had a person dressed as a bear damaging their own luxury cars in a bid to defraud insurance companies were arrested in the US state of California on Nov 13. Suspicions were aroused when a claim was made for ripped seats and damaged doors on a luxury Rolls-Royce Ghost, an exclusive vehicle worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Claimants said a bear entered into the car when it was parked in Lake Arrowhead, a mountain spot outside Los Angeles, wreaking havoc on its interior. To back up their claim, they provided photos of...

Many readers are interested in how various handgun calibers have performed in defense against bears. This is a complicated subject. Sometimes, any caliber will do. Sometimes, a level of power may be required. Sometimes, a level of accuracy or speed may be required. Many permutations exist. The most important aspect, if a confrontation occurs, is to have a firearm available, easily and quickly accessible. The specific caliber is less important. These updates include all the incidents we have been able to document to the date of the update, after several years of intense searches. We have always asked for examples...

RainFurrest 2015 was one for the books. The convention, filled with full-grown adults dressed as bears, wearing diapers and taking drugs, catapulted the often sex-crazed subculture cast into the public eye. It was meant to be an annual convention designed for and by furries. But the debauchery that ensued left animal loving organizers banned from ever holding another event in the city of Seattle after brass at the hotel they defiled spread word about what happened the social gathering. Permanently plastered in the annals of internet history, the event started to go off the rails when someone purposely loosened a...

However, a message circulated by the administration to promote respect and tolerance was wildly misinterpreted. The school’s intent to foster “Outstanding behavior might demonstrate curiosity, understanding, patience and tolerance,” as Sorenson conveyed, was lost amid social media speculation and sensationalism. A Change.org petition titled “Students for Humans at School, not animals aka furries,” demanding the school ban furry costumes, gained traction despite the district’s clarification that no such costumes were worn or allowed at the school. Conservative social media personalities and local political figures stoked the flames. For instance, Adam Bartholomew, a radio host whose wife is running for a...

Allegations of students at Mt. Nebo Junior High School dressing up like animals and biting, barking and pouncing on fellow students created a social media firestorm on Wednesday. As it turns out, these allegations were "completely unfounded," said Seth Sorensen, spokesman for the Nebo School District. OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) — Oklahoma lawmakers are filing a flurry of bills the day before the filing deadline. Among them is HB 3084. The bill, authored by Rep. Justin Humphrey (R-Lane), would prohibit students who "purport to be an imaginary animal or species" from participating in school curriculum and activities. The bill would also prohibit students who engage in anthropomorphic behavior, also known as "furries", from class. If a parent cannot pick up a student found in violation, the bill states, then animal control services will be contacted to remove the student. Other bills being filed:

State Rep. Justin Humphrey introduced a bill on Tuesday that would ban furries from public schools across the state — and allow animal control to round up those who defy the proposed law. “Students who purport to be an imaginary animal or animal species, or who engage in anthropomorphic behavior commonly referred to as furries at school shall not be allowed to participate in school curriculum or activities,” House Bill 3084 states. The legislation would require parents or guardians to pick up their child from school. Otherwise, “animal control services shall be contacted to remove the student,” the bill states......

7 Surprising Reasons Why Furries Are Hated Now that we've explored some of the foundational aspects of the furry fandom, let's address the elephant in the room, or should I say, the anthropomorphic elephant. Here are seven surprising reasons why furries are often the target of societal disdain: 1. Ignorance: Lack of understanding about what the furry community truly represents can lead to baseless judgments. People often fear what they don't understand, which can result in hatred or disdain. 2. Media Portrayal: Sensationalist media often focus on the most extreme elements of the community, painting an unbalanced picture that stokes...

The self-described "gay furry hackers" of SiegedSec are back: this time boasting they've broken into America's biggest nuclear power lab's computer systems and stolen records on thousands of employees. Some of that data has already been leaked, it appears. SiegedSec, which also claimed to have breached NATO's IT security on two occasions this year, said it has now hit Idaho National laboratory (INL), which is run by the US Department of Energy's Office of Nuclear Energy. Employee Social Security numbers, physical addresses, and bank account data are among the information said to have been pinched. The lab has at least...

Idaho National Laboratory experienced a massive data breach on Sunday night, leading to the leak of employee addresses, Social Security numbers, bank account information and much more. INL media spokesperson Lori McNamara tells EastIdahoNews.com the breach is being investigated and federal law enforcement are involved. “Earlier this morning, Idaho National Laboratory determined that it was the target of a cybersecurity data breach, affecting the servers supporting its Oracle HCM system, which supports its Human Resources applications. INL has taken immediate action to protect employee data,” says McNamara. “INL has been in touch with federal law enforcement agencies, including the FBI...

NATO is "actively addressing" multiple IT security incidents after a hacktivist group claimed it once again breached some of the military alliance's websites, this time stealing what's claimed to be more than 3,000 files and 9GB of data. When asked about this alleged intrusion, a NATO official declined to answer specific questions and told The Register: NATO is facing persistent cyber threats and takes cyber security seriously. NATO cyber experts are actively addressing incidents affecting some unclassified NATO websites. Additional cyber security measures have been put in place. There has been no impact on NATO missions, operations and military deployments....

The government-backed group, once tasked with dealing with such things as school shootings and kidnappings, has now, thankfully, pivoted to addressing the existential problem of furry ridicule. The Safer Schools Initiative, a government-backed organization, recently warned teachers and parents not to ridicule or overreact to schoolkids who identify as “Furries” – defined as “a person who dresses up in costume as such a character or uses one as an avatar online.” Those who identify and dress up as an animal deserve our respect, says SSI. Students who adopt “fursonas,” or personalized animal characters-- and who don fur suits or furry...

and why are teachers indulging the new subculture to the alarm of parents? UK schools are seeing a phenomenon of teenage pupils identifying as cats Most children love to play ‘dress up’ and Katie Harris* is no exception. In the grounds of her school in Bedfordshire, she can often be seen wearing her cat mask and furry tail, miaowing and purring as she rubs up to her friends, who stroke her head and tickle her chin. Such imaginative play would be endearing if this were a nursery or infant school. But Katie — who now goes by the non-binary moniker...

"The 13-year-old Utah boy hung out in the typical online spaces for someone his age: The chat app Discord. The gaming platform Roblox. And, of course, Twitter. But for more than two months last year, on those very platforms, the boy was being sexually groomed by an adult who was 13 years older and hundreds of miles away. It started in private messages then moved into public view on Twitter. It ended in a horror story. The boy’s father went to check on him one night and found him missing, his window open, the bedroom freezing. The boy was allegedly...
