This piece below is 100% fun lunacy. If you are not in the mood to read an absurd pointless piece, then read no further . . . ___________ "There is good solid evidence for the reality of UFO's", say some people. My reply to them is this: ____________ I believe in UFO's. Just yesterday my wife and I were out in the back yard when an Unidentified Flying Object landed on our patio table as we were relaxing sipping tea. Good Lands! I exclaimed, what can that be? My wife immediately recognized it as a UFO. I noticed that it...

Help! I need recommendations for fun reading material. I really enjoy mysteries and have been re-reading some Agatha Christie books, because so many of the newer books are PC or extremely gory. Also, I prefer my reading material to be clean. Humor books are also good, as well as real crime and crime solving methods, as long as it's not too hair-raising. Fiction or non-fiction, as long as it's entertaining. Are there mysteries out there where the detective has at least somewhat conservative values? Are there ones set in the past that don't have feminist females entirely out of character...

"Goggle up, science is about to happen! Physicists have been obsessed with these 'unbreakable' glass drops since the 1600s. But what happens if you shoot one with a bullet? Spoiler: Prince Rupert's drops are so strong, they actually cause the bullet to shatter. In glorious slow motion, you can watch as the bullet crumbles against the wide end of the drop, sending out shock waves that then rattle the rest of the structure and cause the thin end to break, resulting in the entire thing exploding.

Anyone want to participate in a music play-off bracket-type poll for best songs of the '50s? At the start of this year, as well as 2 and 5 years ago, I ran "tournaments" to pick the best songs of the '60s, '70s and '80s, based on Billboard rankings, so only the best of the best were included! Normally it'd probably be next year before I'd even attempt. But given this stay-home COVID nonsense, I thought maybe everyone would like another something to do. Last remaining Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden's website makes it easy for supporters to make their own photograph endorsing the former vice president, however, it also makes it easy for critics and internet hooligans to create memes mocking him. A page on the website has it so people can upload their own photos and download a graphic that reads, "I'm on Team Joe!" with the custom picture. As a result, many Twitter users decided to make their own versions that lampooned Biden. Twitter users mocked Biden's soft stance on China, the media's obvious bias for the candidate, and his many...

Amid a global pandemic, Chicagoans find ways to laugh. Homeowners are decorating like it’s Christmas again, high-rise residents are lighting up their windows and there is an abundance of neighborhood singalongs. But it’s hard for any of them to top the unbounded joy found in Mayor Lori Lightfoot memes.

As more and more Americans grow disillusioned with the democratic process, an increasing number of voters are throwing their support behind Aragorn II, Son of Arathorn, King of Gondor. While the candidates on the ballot all received a fair number of votes, the largest voting bloc simply wrote in "Hail Aragorn, Son of Arathorn, the rightful heir to the throne of Gondor! We owe him our allegiance!" The monarch seems to have won support among American voters through his impeccable personal character, strong military service, and "dope" sword fighting ability. "Some other candidates have good policies and decent track...

It is no secret that America is polarized. This is a fact that is manifested in so many different ways. Traveling down the highway to Chicago, for example, I came upon two successive billboards that I thought were striking examples of our divided culture. The first billboard caught me by surprise: it consisted of an electrocardiogram of a heart that suddenly stops beating. The caption read: When you die, you will meet God. As we were passing through the snowy night, I was unable to catch more details of this billboard. I do not know who put it out or...

NEW YORK, NY—In honor of the anniversary of Chairman Mao Zedong's death, The New York Times unfurled a giant, 50-foot-wide banner honoring the "brave revolutionary" outside its New York offices Monday. After public outcry, they admitted this might have been "slightly inappropriate." "While we stand by our decision to honor one of history's great men, we admit the banner lacked important historical context," said one Times editor. "While his ideas were morally right, they factually killed a bunch of people, and that's not something we wanted to promote. Unless you're killing yourself to combat climate change." Paper executives considered adding...

In the Everest ultra-marathon, runners compete at lung-bursting altitudes of 17,000 feet. This year, one runner spent a night outside, alone and without shelter. The annual Mount Everest ultra-marathon starts at Base Camp and ends at Namche Village, a popular stop for mountaineers. Runners pay up to $2,700 for an all-inclusive trip and the right to compete in the 37-mile (60-kilometer) event. This year, a few runners faced challenges during the ultra-marathon: The lodge where they were supposed to stay overnight was closed, which forced one runner to sleep alone outside. In the Everest ultra, runners climb over ice and...

Here is a sentence one does not often get the opportunity to write: Bill de Blasio is right. Sen.
