The owner was sleeping in the back seat.

He was charging his EV at the Supercharger in Buckeye, Arizona, and decided to take a nap on the back seat. It was the morning of October 5, more precisely 6:00 AM, when the whole thing started to develop.

When the door closes, we see the car shake, as if there is some fight happening inside it. This man's face tells us a lot about what must be going on.

...guy and flies out of the rear right window of the car. How did he end up there?

We would not believe it if we did not see it with our own eyes.

Polite society isn’t sufficiently cognizant of how brazen criminals can be.
Guy is chauffeured to the target vehicle, hangs around for a while, waits until another car shows up _AND_ its occupants get out & wander around staring at the crime in progress. The perp cared not about witnesses, and figured he was in no need of a getaway vehicle.
Whatever happened inside was bad enough (likely bewilderingly so to aforementioned polite society) the guy leaps thru the car window. Closed.

He did not exactly open the window, but he did first remove the window glass, weatherstrip and lock strip before the defenestration.
