Washington — The Georgia Court of Appeals on Wednesday agreed to review a decision by a Fulton County Superior Court judge who declined to disqualify District Attorney Fani Willis and her office from the 2020 election case against former President Donald Trump because of a personal relationship Willis had with a prosecutor.

ATLANTA — Channel 2 Action News has learned the judge on the election interference case has granted a defense request to allow an appeal of his order that kept the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office in the case. Channel 2 investigative reporter Mark Winne obtained a copy of the “Certificate of Immediate Review” signed by Judge Scott McAfee, who ruled on Friday that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and her office could stay on the case if Special Prosecutor Nathan Wade withdrew, which he did on the same day.

It’s been nearly three weeks since the county government’s computer system was hacked, disrupting many services. FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Six people, including a detention officer and food contractors at the Fulton County Jail, are now facing charges for trying to sneak stuff into the jail. Fulton County Sheriff’s Office officials say they began investigating after cartons of cigarettes were found in a food tray on one of the housing floors of the jail last month. Investigators say they learned that several employees of Summit Correctional Services, the jail’s food service contractor, were involved.
