Free Republic

As I write this, it is late afternoon in Australia and after midnight on the American East Coast. I have put together some thoughts from two Anglican priest's homilies in the morning here, with ideas of my own and with images from the 1930's. Father Grant Edgecumbe this morning added the ideas: “Be Salt. Be light. Share a joke.” to tell his congregation of some ways to live out the reputed Assisi maxim: “Preach the Gospel ……… Use words if necessary." “Faith is relational.” said Father Michael Bowie in his homily in his national heritage church across a large city...

As the largest crowds yet took to the streets Tuesday objecting to President Emmanuel Macron's pension reform scheme, Macron moved in another direction talking Ukraine and saying additional options were possible like warplanes. Many see more weapons for Ukraine as having the potential to lead to "World War Three" with nuclear weapons a possibility. But back in France when it comes to pensions Mr. Macron has a 'nuclear option' to force through his 'pension reform' proposal. It's the use of Article 49.3 of France's 1958 Constitution (The Fifth Republic) one of the many strong powers dictated by Charles de Gaulle...

Rosa Parks is one of the very many human proofs of the greatness of America and American freedom. Using her freedom, she helped correct problems where freedom wasn't fully allowed to herself and far too many of her people. She used freedom of speech. She stated her beliefs clearly and powerfully to make freedom better. That is beautiful. So, on Rosa's 11oth birthday, I have combined her thoughts with images of beautiful actress Deeanna of Melbourne. God Bless Freedom. (click the red link under the title to see the visuals)

The obscenities of the modern left's police state stupidities totally disgust me. But going to churches and learning there and thinking with Simone Weil and looking at Anita Ekberg .......... Life can still be good.

Today is director John Ford's 129th birthday. He said: "..... the sweetest freedom is an honest heart." 2 very different musicians in whom I see honest hearts are German trombone player Phil Zey and Bluegrass Band Leader Del McCoury. I met Phil at Dieng temple in Central Java Indonesia. He played a bit of Sinatra in the temple and hit a golf ball just outside it. The footage in the main link to this post show Phil leaving the temple. (I published the temple footage 3 years ago today.) Later on in Australia, I took him up into mountain forests...

President Biden said in a Tuesday speech at a fundraiser that climate change is a bigger threat to humanity than nuclear war. Biden made the comments during a Democratic National Committee fundraiser in New York City. "If we don’t stay under 1.5 degrees Celsius, we’re going to have a real problem. It’s the single-most existential threat to humanity we’ve ever faced, including nuclear weapons," Biden said. "And so we have a real big problem." Biden added that he inherited an "America First" foreign policy which put "America last."

On this day, 1865, the thirteenth amendment abolished slavery. Are we free now? Our spirits or our lives? Annika looks like she is. (Click the red link below the title if you wonder why you cannot see her here.)
