The arrest of Mexico’s former defense minister, retired Gen. Salvador Cienfuegos, on drug and money laundering charges shakes one of the few Mexican institutions that had maintained the confidence of the people. Cienfuegos was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport Thursday at the request of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. He had been Mexico’s top military official during the presidency of Enrique Peña Nieto from 2012 to 2018. On Friday, López Obrador said Cienfuegos’ arrest was “regrettable.” He said he had been told that the charges against Cienfuegos would be announced in the United States Friday afternoon, but he confirmed...

Democrats are so busy trying to be “woke” and “inclusive” that they are seemingly putting Americans at risk to the Coronavirus. The Democratic-controlled U.S. House of Representatives voted 233-183 to repeal President Donald Trump’s travel ban, The Hill reported. Many have called the travel ban one of Trump’s “signature wins” in office, arguing that it keeps America safer and protects the country. But Democrats don’t see it that way and successfully passed a bill that would repeal the travel ban because they argue it is not “inclusive” enough.

The World Bank has warned that 150 million people could fall into “extreme poverty” by the end of 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic and accompanying global recession with the levels of global poverty set to rise for the first time in 20 years. In a new Poverty and Shared Prosperity Report, the organization said that between 9.1% and 9.4% would be affected by extreme poverty, which is defined by the group as living on under $1.90 a day. Had the pandemic not hit, the rate was forecast to fall to 7.9% this year...

China appears to be on the brink. The communist regime is threatening our ally, Taiwan -- one of several Asian countries seeking closer ties with the United States while China’s domestic turmoil grows. In a recent column in China's state-sponsored Global Times, editor-in-chief Hu Xijin warned, "As the secessionist forces' arrogance continues to swell, the historical turning point is getting closer." "The only way forward is for the mainland to fully prepare itself for war and to give Taiwan secessionist forces a decisive punishment at any time," he wrote. Taiwan's opposition party has been seeking closer cooperation with the United States. But,...

Hunter Biden was receiving a $10 million annual fee from a Chinese billionaire who has been accused of corruption and with whom he sought to increase the cash flow with a joint business ownership, an August 2017 email from Mr. Biden shows. The money was for “introductions alone,” said Mr. Biden, son of Democratic presidential nominee Joseph R. Biden. Another email to Hunter Biden from a consultant says that a 10% stake in an unnamed company will go to “the big guy?” The “big guy” was not identified. Hunter Biden hooked up with the billionaire, Ye Jianming, chairman of the...

Hunter Biden entered into a consulting contract with China’s largest private energy company that initially earned him $10 million a year “for introductions alone,” according to leaked emails. In an email chain from Aug. 2, 2017, Biden discussed a deal with the former chairman of CEFC China Energy, Ye Jianming, saying Ye agreed to change the terms of Biden’s three-year consulting contract with CEFC, which initially promised Biden $10 million per-year “for introductions alone,” to make it “much more lasting and more lucrative,” the New York Post reported, although the authenticity of the Biden emails has not been independently confirmed....

The Czech Republic is facing a medical 'collapse' with the army rigging up field hospitals as the country suffers the worst infection rate in Europe. After escaping the first wave relatively lightly, the Eastern European country has been battered by a resurgence in recent weeks which has infected more than 4,000 hospital workers and forced the closure of schools, bars and restaurants. Hospitals are treating six times as many virus patients as during the first wave, with other surgeries being cancelled and plans being drawn up for patients to be exported to Germany, Hungary or Poland. 'We are in danger...

The Knesset voted to approve the normalization agreement with the United Arab Emirates Thursday night. The agreement was approved by a margin of 80-13. All 13 votes against approving the deal came from the Joint List. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu praised the agreement before the vote, saying that his foreign policy has changed the discourse on peace in the Middle East and brought Israel closer to the Gulf Arab states. “The new order says you don’t wait for the Palestinians to make peace,” Netanyahu said. “This deal brings Arab and Muslim countries closer to us, who have formed a united...

French police searched the homes of the health minister, the former prime minister and other top officials Thursday in an investigation into the government’s response to the global coronavirus pandemic. The dawn searches, confirmed by the Health Ministry, come as France is fighting against a resurgent epidemic that has now filled a third of the country’s intensive care units with COVID-19 patients and is again putting Europe to the test. The investigation threatens to rekindle public frustration with a government that’s been accused of lying to the public about mask stocks, underestimating testing needs and overestimating France’s ability to vanquish...

BRASILIA - Brazilian Senator Chico Rodrigues was caught in a police raid with money hidden between his buttcheeks on Wednesday, a judicial source briefed on the matter told Reuters, amid an investigation into the misuse of COVID-19 response funding. In the senate, Rodrigues represents the state of Roraima and has also been chosen as deputy leader for the agenda of the administration of President Jair Bolsonaro, who won the presidency campaigning heavily on ending the corruption of previous governments. Rodrigues confirmed in a statement that his house was raided, without giving details. He denied wrongdoing and said he had been...

Everyone remembers when Joe Biden bragged about getting the Ukrainian prosecutor fired… but now thanks to Hunter’s emails, we know that the Obama White House hosted a call that concerned the 2015 trip. Although social media is doing its best to suppress evidence of Joe Biden’s corruption and criminal activity while in office, new emails show that the Obama White House was also involved. The former administration hosted a call with a democratic public relations company, Burisma, and others, and the conversation concerned Joe Biden’s upcoming trip to the country… the same trip where he later boasted about his extortion...

The FBI tried to cover up the Hunter Biden emails last year by confiscating them from a computer repairman and stonewalling him afterwards, according to reports. The emails only became public because the repairman made a copy of Biden’s hard drive that was ultimately delivered to Rudy Giuliani. “According to [the repairman] Isaac, the FBI first made a forensic copy of the laptop, then returned a few weeks later with a subpoena and confiscated it,” reported Zero Hedge. “After he stopped hearing back from the FBI, Isaac said he contacted several members of Congress, who did not respond, at which...

China has again put its military in a “high state of alert” after two US Navy warships recently sailed through the Taiwan Strait. Late last week the US destroyer John McCain sailed near the disputed Paracel Islands administered and militarized by China, upon which the PLA military warned the US to “halt its provocations”. The latest incident was Wednesday, when the Arleigh Burke class guided-missile destroyer USS Barry passed through the strait. Washington was quick to emphasize that it was a “routine transit” like others toward the purpose of peaceful ‘freedom of navigation’ operations, while Beijing once again denounced the...

DUBAI—While the U.S. and Europe await the results of large-scale clinical trials before deploying Covid-19 vaccines, some other nations are moving much faster with emergency-use rollouts of experimental Chinese and Russian candidates in an attempt to stem the global rise in infections. Over the past month, the United Arab Emirates has been offering a Chinese vaccine to thousands of medical workers, teachers, airport staff and government officials in the most ambitious such program outside China itself. Indonesia plans to begin...

Update (1000ET): Donald Trump Jr. has just raised an interesting question in a tweet: Is Twitter censoring the Hunter Biden stories from the NY Post at the behest of the Communist Party of China? "There needs to be an immediate government investigation into @twitter/@jack. Not just because of their blatant election interference to protect Biden, but to find out if they're censoring these NY Post stories at the behest of the Chinese Communist Party. Put Jack under oath!!!" Don Jr. tweeted. There needs to be an immediate government investigation into @twitter/@jack. Not just because of their blatant election interference...

“Every time Joe Biden was named point man by Barack Obama, Joe Biden negotiated for the United States. Each time he negotiated, he failed. Each time, the Biden Crime family got millions of dollars from that country,” Giuliani said. Giuliani cited Iraq, what he said was the first example of this, outlining a scheme involving a $1.5 billion contract and Biden’s brother, James Biden. He named Hunter Biden, James Biden, Joe Biden and Sarah Biden, along with other unnamed family members, as “the Biden Crime Family.” New Hunter Biden emails reveal shady ties to China… Part Two: https://nypost.com/2020/10/15/emails-reveal-how-hunter-biden-tried-to-cash-in-big-with-chinese-firm/

Social media users are calling for NBC News'political director Chuck Todd to be fired over the town hall scheduling clash between President Donald Trump and Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. The hashtag #FireChuckTodd was trending on Twitter Thursday morning. The television network announced Wednesday that it would be hosting the president's town hall event after he pulled out of the second presidential debate. The time slot conflicts with Biden's own town hall event, hosted by ABC. Trump's town hall event will be helmed by NBC News Today anchor Savannah Guthrie, while Biden's will be chaired by ABC News chief anchor...

Joe Biden fat-shamed an Iowa voter in December during a town hall when the man challenged the Democratic presidential candidate on his son’s lucrative board position with the Ukrainian energy company Burisma. “We all know Trump has been messing around in Ukraine… but, you on the other hand, sent your son over there. He not only worked for a gas company, but he had no experience in … You’re selling access to the presidency just like [Trump] is,” said the Iowa voter. “You’re a damn liar, man,” Biden pushed back. “I saw it on TV,” the man responded. “You see...

Editors' note: Walid Phares has a new book out on the difference in foreign policy between Obama and Trump titled: The Choice: Trump vs. Obama-Biden in US Foreign Policy. Below is an exclusive excerpt - Chapter 3 - which illustrates the nightmare that Obama brought to U.S. foreign policy. Soon after landing in the White House, President Obama initiated two major moves, which by the end of May or early June 2009 indicated where his administration was going in terms of national security and foreign policy. It was obvious to me at the time that the country was veering away...
