Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas is not waiting until after the presidential election to launch a bid to put one of former President Donald Trump’s ideas into effect.

Cruz has introduced the No Tax on Tips Act that would keep the Internal Revenue Service from taking a slice of the income service workers gain through tips, according to a news release on Cruz’s website.

During a recent rally in Las Vegas, Trump indicated he opposes taxes on tips, according to The Hill.

Trump needs to make this his number one positive campaign ad and every Republican running in 2024 needs to run this campaign ad. That’s a winning issue.

This is both a righteous and clever move by President Trump and Senator Cruz

If tips aren’t taxed, what about bonuses? They are like tips.

Never add tips to credit card. Always tip cash.

It is a great proposal and dispels the left’s meme that tax cuts only benefit the wealthy.

Tax on tips are one of the most hated taxes out there.

The tax also creates tremendous temptation for service workers to become tax cheats, thus alienating them from the political system.

This proposal is not only pro-economy and pro-workers, it is pro-honesty and pro-integrity.

I wonder if anyone has made the argument that tips are gifts not income.

It is right on the tax form....wages, tips, etc.

This would remove the need to report them

I think it’s a good idea because the money will be spent locally instead of wasted by the Feds.

And tips shouldn’t be split between all the workers. That’s the purpose of a tip...to reward the particular person who takes care of you.

I always ask if the establishment pools their tips. If not, I leave cash. If so, it’s CC.

I certainly agree with that. A crappy waiter should not be rewarded for the good service of another waiter.

No tax on tips is a great idea.

To make $3 an hour and get taxed on an assumed $10 an hour is just wrong.

So, glad this proposal would help rectify that.

Sadly, DD said drunks and bikers tipped the best. Worst were Christians and businesswomen :(

Always. Now it won't matter.

Some places used to provide the busboys with 20% of his waitress' tips, as he hustles just as hard on a busy night and is part of the dining experience.

Also those who are or have been cooks are very good tippers.

Except if they pass it now and Biden signs it. They are just hoping the Dems will complain about the cost to the government.

Republicans are great at talking, posturing and posing. Actually getting something done is another matter.
