  • Trump Issues Startling Update on Election Audit Results In New Hampshire

Donald Trump is using his platform on his new website to continue to share his opinions about the results of the 2020 presidential election and the audits and recounts that are continuing. On Monday he did just that, including sending his screed in an email to supporters, claiming that “non-existing votes” were found by investigators in the New Hampshire election audit. “New Hampshire’s Election Audit has revealed that large-scale voting machines appear to count NON-EXISTING VOTES. State and local communities are seeking confirmation. It’s probably true, but we’ll soon know,” the 45th President of the United States said.

It turns out that you are probably folding your t-shirts and socks all wrong. Marie Kondo, an organization celebrity in Japan, shows us the folding methods that earned her a spot on TIME's 2015 "Top 100 Influential People" list. You can learn more about her tidying methods from her book, "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing."CLICK ABOVE LINK FOR A BRIEF VIDEO OF HOW TO FOLD YOUR SHIRTS AND SOCKS THE KONDO WAY....

It has been a while since our last Free Republic Folding@Home update. The team has seen growth in the past couple of years as contributors have added high performance GPUs from NVidia and AMD/ATI, and same consoles such as the PS3. The team started in 2001 with a few volunteers, and grew dramatically in 2005 as we started actually posting regular threads. As we grew from a Top 2000 team to a Top 100 team, we attracted the attention of DU. After a couple of years of name calling, they realized that merely boasting that you can beat the opposition...
  • Folding@Home: New GPU3 (version 6.41) client released

The latest GPU3 client is now on our high performance client download page. This new client improves GPU identification and has several other minor improvements. For those who are unfamiliar with the other FAH clients: there are several types of high performance clients. SMP refers to multi-core CPUs. GPU3 refers to the latest generation Folding@home GPU client. Currently, GPU3 is only available for NVIDIA GPUs, but we are working on a GPU3 release for ATI. For NVIDIA GPUs, we recommend GPU3. For ATI, we suggest GPU2 until GPU3 has passed through its QA testing (going on now). Finally, the v7...

SUMMARY. The influenza virus infects people and animals by binding to complex sugar molecules on the surface of the respiratory tract. Bird viruses bind most strongly to bird cell-surface sugars and human viruses bind most strongly to human cell-surface sugars. As the recent swine-origin influenza virus has demonstrated, there is considerable overlap between the binding ability of human and pig viruses to cells of the other host. Changes to this binding affinity are one key component for viruses to make a jump between species, and it is difficult to predict the necessary mutations ahead of time. We would like to...

Another site I am on is trying to start a small folding team. One "green" activist is trying to make the case that you would be better off sending money directly to cancer researchers rather than wasting energy by folding. His argument is that projects like folding and SETI have been wasting time and energy for years with nothing to show for it and all you are doing is putting money in the pockets of electric company executives. Are there any studies that show how much it costs to run folding 24/7 as opposed to just letting your pc sit...

A network of 100,000 computers providing the greatest data processing capacity yet unleashed has been created to cope with information pouring from the world’s largest machine. The Grid is the latest evolution of the internet and the world wide web and computer scientists will announce on Friday that it is ready to be connected to the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). It is designed for schemes where huge quantities of data need crunching, such as large research and engineering projects. The Grid has the kind of power required to download movies in seconds, and the ability to make high-definition video phone...

I made it into the top 200 on June 14. Since then I've added a third pc so it only took me less than 4 months to move up another 50 places. Personally, if I had my druthers I'd rather see more active members so it was more challenging to everyone. It's kind of sad that a site as big as Freerepublic only has 167 active members on their folding team. You need to get more involved, people, it's easy!

With the 6.20 (classic & GPU) and 6.22 (SMP) clients out, we (Dr. Pande and the F@H team) can start looking forward to the next steps in client development. We still have some last bits of work to completely unify the clients, but the hard part is already completed there for the most part. The 6.2x series introduces several new features for donors, but in time, the clients have been getting gradually more and more complex to use. The Win/SMP and multi-gpu setups are examples of very challenging setups. Our primary plans for the future are to make setup much...

STEM CELL ETHICSBy Judie BrownThe good news out of Australia this week is that stem cells harvested from the noses of Parkinson's patients developed into dopamine-producing brain cells when transplanted into the brain of a lab rat. And while there has been no word about the potential for the human who is suffering from Parkinson's, there should be every reason for optimism. And as this news report makes abundantly clear, "Unlike unethical [human] embryonic stem cells – which have yielded no cures despite the investment of hundreds of millions of research dollars – these stem cells from a patient's nose do...

    Life Site News ^ | 06.12.08 | Peter J. Smith
SYDNEY, Australia, June 12, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - New research on stem-cell therapy shows scientists have found that the cure for Parkinson's disease may lie right under one's nose - or rather, in it. Researchers from Griffith University have published a study in the journal Stem Cells that has found adult stem-cells harvested from the noses of Parkinson's patients developed into dopamine-producing brain cells upon being transplanted into the brain of a lab rat. Professor Alan Mackay-Sim said researchers simulated Parkinson's symptoms in rats by creating lesions on one side of the rat's brain to imitate the damage Parkinson's disease wreaks...

In the near future, we will be releasing some new projects which require a very rapid turn-around time. These are peptide fragment simulations which we are interested in simulating for a time-sensitive collaborative project involving protein structure prediction. These WUs will go directly to the classic clients running with -advmethods. Non-classic clients (eg SMP, GPU, PS3) will not be affected, as all of these calculations will be run via the AMBER core and only the classic client supports the AMBER core. To reward users for participating in this exciting project, we will be giving a x1.5 bonus in the points...

The PandeGroup has all been very excited about the great turnout of FAH donors over the last few weeks, allowing FAH to go over a petaflop. The PS3's have been cranking out some very useful scientific results due to the new scientific software present in v1.2. The PS3's are so fast, we've been looking at the results sometimes 2x to 3x a day (instead of a couple times a month). If all goes well, we're hoping to write up these results soon (maybe a few weeks) for peer reviewed publication. It's also interesting to think about what we want to...

Folding@home will announce this week that it has offically joined the ranks of PetaFLOP computing! While teasing with the mark before, this appears to be the real deal. A formal announcement should come this week from Stanford University as the numbers are crosschecking for publication. Why does this matter? Because every computer and PS3 that has joined the fight to research Alzheimer's Disease and Parkinson's Disease puts us that much closer to a CURE for these brain wasting diseases. Imagine if Ronald Reagan was strong for another 10 years in retirement and had been fully able to participate after his...

Time for awards to be passed out for the FReepers who have pushed the team past 25 Million points. For the old timers, you never thought we wuld see the day, huh? We had threads when we topped a million points as a team and threads when we blew the doors off the DUmmies team and silenced their boasting (what ever happened to them?). In this thread if you have seen a huge contribution to the team then please recognize the poster and let us know so we can all shout out to them. Cheering and noisemakers to all!
