unless you want to loose the extensive capabilities provided via classic Firefox extensions. If you did not want to loose you extensions with the advent of (the fast but relatively handicapped) Firefox Quantum, do not update to Firefox 60 esr, which will actually be an "update" (downgrade for power users) to Quantum. Which means most of your extensions will not work, including, Tab Mix Plus 0.3.8.6 https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tab-mix-plusReduce tab width; Enable multiple tab rows; Change how active tab looks, etc.Memory Restart https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/memory-restart/ Shows how much ram FF is using, and enables easy restart to flush memory.ColorfulTabs https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/colorfultabs/?src=search/ Make tabs distinctive. • The Mozilla Information Trust Initiative: Building a movement to fight misinformation online

    Mozilla.org ^ | August 8, 2017 | Katharina Borchert
Today, we are announcing the Mozilla Information Trust Initiative (MITI)—a comprehensive effort to keep the Internet credible and healthy. Mozilla is developing products, research, and communities to battle information pollution and so-called ‘fake news’ online. And we’re seeking partners and allies to help us do so. Here’s why. Imagine this: Two news articles are shared simultaneously online. The first is a deeply reported and thoroughly fact checked story from a credible news-gathering organization. Perhaps Le Monde, the Wall Street Journal, or Süddeutsche Zeitung. The second is a false or misleading story. But the article is designed to mimic content from...
  • FIREFOX browsers will soon block “fake news” flagged by George Soros-linked left-wing groups

What’s become abundantly clear over the past few months is that liberals are now jumping on the anti-fake news bandwagon and using it as an excuse to censor political speech that doesn’t align with their radical agenda. This strategy is perhaps most prominent on social media and various websites across the Internet, including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, and is implemented by teams of leftists and extremists like George Soros who show zero regards for the freedom of speech outlined in the First Amendment. It’s as if the ability to control what information is spread across the Internet and what information...
  • Firefox/Vanity

Sorry for the vanity but my frustration with Firefox drove me here. I'll look on the internet too. After I get my airline reservations done. I've switched over to Pale Moon but wanted to check here. Over the last few months Firefox goes into process loops that lasts for a minute or two or more. This morning I tried to cross check prices on airline flights using several tabs and Firefox just like dies looping. I don't want to do a reset 'cause I lose settings. Did a reset a couple of months back and lost all my Reminder entries....
  • A sneaky extension for Chrome, Firefox prevents its removal, hijacks browser

    Digital Trends ^ | 1/19/18 | Kevin Parrish
Internet security firm Malwarebytes recently discovered that a pair of extensions will not only hijack Chrome and Firefox, but will block any attempts to remove them from these two browsers. The version found in Chrome is a forced extension resulting from web pages that trick visitors into installing the extension via a JavaScript-based popup. The Firefox version stems from advertisements pretending to be an official manual update requirement warning posted by Mozilla. “Tiempo en colombia en vivo” is the name of the invading Chrome extension. Malwarebytes doesn’t provide any specifics about what this extension actually does to Chrome but presumably, it completely...
  • How to protect your PC against the major ‘Meltdown’ CPU security flaw

Only Intel machines are affected by Meltdown Details have emerged on two major processor security flaws this week, and the industry is scrambling to issue fixes and secure machines for customers. Dubbed “Meltdown” and “Spectre,” the flaws affect nearly every device made in the past 20 years. The Meltdown flaw only affects Intel processors, and researchers have already released proof of concept code that could lead to attacks using Meltdown. The vulnerabilities allow an attacker to compromise the privileged memory of a processor by exploiting the way processes run in parallel. They also allow an attacker to use JavaScript code...

Quantum it is rather good Mozilla today launched Firefox 57, branded Firefox Quantum, for Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS. We have been running it for a month or so and it is rather good. Mozilla calls Quantum “by far the biggest update since Firefox 1.0 in 2004”, but even ignoring the hyperbole it does bring much needed performance improvements and a visual redesign to the Firefox stable. Firefox 57 for the desktop is available for download now on Firefox.com, and all existing users should be able to upgrade to it automatically. The Android version is trickling out slowly on...

I've been a user of Firefox since a SysAdmin at work recommended it back in 2004 when they were at version 0.8. Over the years, some of the features I like disappeared from Firefox in their updated versions, most of which were added back in via extensions. At this point, I have 10 extensions installed, half of which deal exclusively with look and feel. With the latest warning about losing most/all of these legacy extensions with the release of Firefox 57, I decided to look at other browsers. When you add in the SJW nonsense the Mozilla people have associated...
  • Mozilla Will Kill Legacy Firefox Add-Ons in Exactly Three Months (Now November 14, 2017)

    Bleeping Computer ^ | August 14, 2017 | Catalin Cimpanu
On November 14 Mozilla will take the biggest gamble in its long history when the organization will ship Firefox 57, the first version of its browser that will stop supporting legacy Firefox add-ons. This means that starting with Firefox 57 the browser will support only new add-ons written on top of the newer WebExtensions SDK. All legacy Firefox add-ons written on the old XUL-based Add-Ons SDK will stop working. In a blog post last week, Mozilla said it will continue to allow developers to upload and list legacy Firefox add-ons on its add-ons portal (AMO), but they'll only show up...

This is a Wordfence public service security announcement for all users of Chrome and Firefox web browsers: There is a phishing attack that is receiving much attention today in the security community. As a reminder: A phishing attack is when an attacker sends you an email that contains a link to a malicious website. You click on the link because it appears to be trusted. Merely visiting the website may infect your computer or you may be tricked into signing into the malicious site with credentials from a site you trust. The attacker then has access to your username, password and...

Credit: unpaywall.org ============================================================================================================================== (Phys.org)—A group calling itself Impactstory, a nonprofit team whose mission is to make science more accessible to everyone, has released a free Chrome/Firefox extension called Unpaywall that allows users to access some research papers that lie behind a paywall without having to pay to access the paywall site. The official release date was April 4, but users have been able to download and use it for several weeks. A paywall, of course, blocks unpaid access to articles published by a website. Those who do not pay can generally read an abstract but not the full text. Researchers...

Started using the "Brave" browser today after downloading and setting it up last night. Browser was written by the programmer who wrote Firefox but who was later forced out at Mozilla by the queers, freaks and perverts for supporting traditional marriage. Browser blocks all ads and popups which makes browsing quick and efficient again. Not a lot of instructions but most of the setup mirrors Firefox or is intuitive. Can be obtained free from WWW.Brave.com
